Thursday’s game against the Bulls will be the 23rd that Poeltl has missed since aggravating a lower back injury during a December 21 loss to the Nets. After Thursday, the Raptors have two games remaining on the schedule before the All-Star break. Collin Murray-Boyles and Sandro Mamukelashvili have picked up the slack in Poeltl’s absence, and both have been productive enough to merit being rostered.

This injury is often referred to as a sports hernia. The Knicks just traded for Jose Alvarado, who will help make up for McBride’s absence. Alvarado will provide some extra depth in the backcourt for New York, meaning he’ll join Miles McBride, Tyler Kolek and Jordan Clarkson in the rotation. Unless more moves are coming, that won’t leave enough minutes for any of them to provide value in standard leagues, barring an injury to a starter. Alvarado’s defense and playmaking should help the Knicks when Brunson is off the floor in the postseason.

The Knicks have added to their backcourt, taking a chance on a 2022 first-round pick who will be a free agent in the summer. Terry could never carve out a consistent role for himself in Chicago, and he’s unlikely to find that in New York. It should be noted that Miles McBride has missed the last four games due to a left ankle injury, and there’s concern that he could be out for an extended period. Yet, even with that being the case, Terry’s addition does not move the needle in fantasy basketball.

The 57th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Jackson-Davis’ playing time decreased in each of his three seasons with the Warriors. He was essentially passed in the rotation by Quinten Post, a second-round pick in the 2024 draft. Jackson-Davis appeared in 36 games this season, averaging 4.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 11.1 minutes. This transaction is unlikely to affect fantasy basketball, as the Raptors added a frontcourt player in last summer’s draft lottery (Collin Murray-Boyles) and in free agency (Sandro Mamukelashvili). Add in Jakob Poeltl, provided his lower back issues subside, and Jackson-Davis may struggle to carve out a role for himself in Toronto.

Wednesday’s game was the first for Towns since January 19, when he scored 22 in a blowout loss to the Mavericks. While KAT’s offensive production has taken a hit during New York’s eight-game win streak, he has been consistently productive as a rebounder, averaging 13.4 caroms per game.
