Jackson-Davis made the most of his debut appearance for the Raptors, recording a double-double. While 16 minutes aren’t a big deal for most players, TJD met or exceeded that number just 14 times with the Warriors this season before being traded. The issue moving forward is that the Raptors were shorthanded on Sunday: Jakob Poeltl (back) was out, and Collin Murray-Boyles left the game in the first half with a thumb injury. While Jackson-Davis played well, fantasy managers should not overreact.

Back in the lineup after sitting out Thursday’s win over the Bulls, Barrett had a good afternoon against the Pacers. All that was missing from his stat line was a blocked shot. Unfortunately, Barrett’s fantasy value has tailed off after a hot start to the season. But, in fairness to him, there may have been too much expected of Barrett in terms of fantasy value. While days like Sunday are certainly possible, Carter is a better option in points leagues than category leagues.

With Jakob Poeltl (back) still out and Collin Murray-Boyles exiting before halftime after aggravating his left thumb injury, the Raptors needed a bit more from Mamukelashvili on Sunday. As has been the case multiple times this season, Mamu stepped up, and he’s scored at least 14 points in four consecutive games. Poeltl is getting closer to a return, but it’s challenging to envision a scenario in which Mamukelashvili falls off the radar entirely. He’s played that well in his first season in Toronto.

The Raptors grabbed control of Sunday’s game with a dominant third quarter, and Barnes led the way. The All-Star forward shot 8-of-9 from the field in the period, doing most of his damage in the restricted area. Barnes finished with a robust stat line, giving fantasy managers a welcome boost to end Week 16. The Raptors, who only play three games in Week 17, are off until Wednesday night against the Pistons.

Murray-Boyles had been playing through a left thumb injury when he aggravated it during the first half of Sunday’s game. Ja’Kobe Walter started the third quarter as the Raptors went without a center.

Poeltl has been out since December, and that won’t change on Sunday. However, the past few days have been spent getting his conditioning up to par rather than rehabbing his lower back, which is a positive. While other players on the Jazz are being removed after three quarters, Collier continues to play lots of minutes for Utah. The 21-year-old point guard has now played at least 30 minutes in four consecutive games, a timeline that overlaps with Keyonte George’s right ankle sprain. Until there’s concrete news that George is coming back, Collier should be rostered in all formats. In the last four games, he’s averaging 20.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 13.3 assists and 2.7 steals.

Jackson and most of the starters curiously played 25 minutes or less. The Jazz led by seven entering the fourth quarter before sidelining the 26-year-old power forward and other veterans, which ultimately led to the three-point loss. Jackson’s fantasy upside will be limited if this kind of game management continues. While he played well when he was on the court, fantasy managers have to consider it a discouraging debut.

Poeltl, who has not appeared in a game since December, has been plagued by a lower back injury since training camp. With the 7-footer going through practice on Saturday, there’s a chance that he plays on Sunday against the Pacers. Given the time that Poeltl has missed, conditioning is a concern. After missing Utah’s last two games, Love is on track to be available for Saturday’s game. However, with Jaren Jackson Jr., Kyle Filipowski and Jusuf Nurkić available, there may not be enough minutes for Love to affect fantasy basketball. While the Jazz have held Jusuf Nurkić out of games recently, even though he was listed as available, that should not be an issue for George. Playing in his home state of Georgia for the first time as an NBA player, Bailey put up 20 points and a complete stat line. While the shooting efficiency was lacking, his getting up 26 shots and logging 40 minutes may be a sign of what’s to come if the Jazz shut down their vets later this season. While teammate Isaiah Collier played all 48 minutes, Markkanen didn’t even play half that. The Jazz forward logged 23 minutes in Atlanta, and that’s one of the concerns for fantasy managers who have him rostered. The good news is that Markkanen actually played, unlike Jusuf Nurkić, who was active. Hopefully, for the sake of those who have Lauri rostered, the Jazz will rule him out when he isn’t playing, rather than resorting to the Nurkić-related shenanigans of the last two games.

All that was missing from Murray-Boyles’ stat line on Thursday was a three-pointer, and that isn’t a category where he usually provides value. The rookie forward/center did appear to tweak his left thumb during the victory, but he remained in the game. Afterward, Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic said that the protective wrap will stay on Murray-Boyles’ left thumb for another five weeks. The only concern for fantasy managers is what happens when Jakob Poeltl (back) returns, as he could be back before the All-Star break. The 57th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Jackson-Davis’ playing time decreased in each of his three seasons with the Warriors. He was essentially passed in the rotation by Quinten Post, a second-round pick in the 2024 draft. Jackson-Davis appeared in 36 games this season, averaging 4.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 11.1 minutes. This transaction is unlikely to affect fantasy basketball, as the Raptors added a frontcourt player in last summer’s draft lottery (Collin Murray-Boyles) and in free agency (Sandro Mamukelashvili). Collier was in the Jazz starting lineup for Tuesday’s game, as Keyonte George was ruled out. The second-year guard took advantage of his opportunity, racking up a career-high 22 assists while committing just two turnovers. Collier doesn’t offer the best value as a scorer, but managers looking for assists and steals should consider him for the “silly season.” And with Utah trading Walter Clayton Jr. on Tuesday as part of the Jaren Jackson Jr. deal, playing time should not be a concern for Collier after the All-Star break.
