Porter suffered a right meniscus injury during an on-court return-to-play workout on Thursday. According to the Bucks, he’ll undergo a minor arthroscopic procedure and be out for another four weeks. The strategy for fantasy managers is simple: add Ryan Rollins if he’s still sitting on the waiver wire. Rostered in 37 percent of Yahoo! leagues, he’s providing top-25 value in nine-cat formats while averaging 31.1 minutes per game.

Porter has not played since injuring his ankle during the regular season opener, and Thursday’s game will be the fourth he’s missed. Ryan Rollins has filled in admirably as the starting point guard and is worth rostering until KPJ returns.

KPJ had already been ruled out for Friday’s game against Toronto, but he won’t play against Cleveland on Sunday either. That will likely result in at least two starts for Ryan Rollins, who turned in a 9/4/3/3 line in 29 minutes off the bench against the Wizards.

KPJ exited early from Wednesday’s season opener, and after the game, coach Doc Rivers said it didn’t look good. It wouldn’t be shocking if this wasn’t the only absence for Porter. Ryan Rollins ended up playing 29 minutes and contributed nine points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals and will likely fill in as a starter with Porter sidelined.

Porter Jr. is dealing with a left ankle sprain. The 25-year-old point guard was leading the Bucks with 10 points early in the second quarter against the Wizards on Wednesday when he was ruled out officially. Porter Jr. is in line for a significant role on this Bucks team if he can avoid a serious injury, though his timetable to return is unclear at this time. Cole Anthony’s fantasy value would benefit the most from an extended absence for Porter Jr.

Porter Jr. appears to be the Bucks’s starting point guard heading into the season. He started once again, dropped 15 points in 24 minutes and made 4-of-6 three-pointers. Porter Jr. will have fantasy value as long as he plays well enough to maintain the role as the primary point guard. Offseason addition Cole Anthony had 21 points and went 5-of-6 on three-pointers in 19 minutes. Anthony at least gives the Bucks a depth option at points guard should Porter Jr. falter at any point this season.

After rejuvenating his NBA career during his time with the Bucks late last season, Porter is on track to be the team’s starting point guard to open the regular season. He didn’t miss a shot from the field against the Pistons and generally made solid decisions with the basketball in his 14 minutes of game time. Given the track record, Porter can be challenging to trust in fantasy leagues fully. However, the opportunity in front of KPJ makes him worth the risk as a late-round pick.

No Milwaukee starter played more than 17 minutes on Monday, including Porter Jr., who needed just 15 minutes to reach double figures in points and finish as the team’s leader in assists. The veteran guard figures to have the ball in his hands often this season after head coach Doc Rivers recently made known his intentions to start Porter Jr. at the point guard position. He’ll provide the Bucks with additional ball handling and playmaking alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, while also contributing three-level scoring to the starting unit. If Porter Jr. can retain his shooting efficiency from his half-season with the Bucks last season, he’ll have a chance to make a positive impact throughout the year.

Rivers’ statement following the Bucks’ first practice of training camp is unsurprising, given the lack of options at the point guard position. Offseason addition Cole Anthony, who was limited some during the session, and Ryan Rollins may also get opportunities, but Porter stands out as the best available option. During the team’s first-round series against Indiana, he averaged 5.4 assists and 1.8 turnovers per game. While Porter only shot 39.6 percent from the field in the series, his decision-making was sound overall. And with his starting point guard role, he’ll have the opportunity to put up more robust scoring and assist numbers. The key for Porter will be efficiency, which he struggled with while running the show for the then-rebuilding Rockets early in his career.

Two days after declining his player option, Porter has decided to return to the Bucks on a two-year deal. He certainly had his moments, especially late in the season, and there’s an opportunity for the former first-round pick to provide added value in fantasy leagues. Damian Lillard (Achilles) will miss most of the 2025-26 season, leaving a large opening at the point guard position. While erratic, KPJ will be worth the risk in standard league drafts.

Traded to Milwaukee at the February deadline, Porter had his moments during the regular season and the Bucks’ first-round series against the Pacers. His option for the 2025-26 season would have paid Porter $2.5 million, so the decision to test the open market is not a surprise. With Damian Lillard (Achilles) set to miss most of next season, if not all of it, and Ryan Rollins being a restricted free agent, the Bucks have a clear need at point guard. However, they don’t have much money to spend in free agency.

After totaling 22 points on 6-of-21 shooting in the first three games of the series, Porter was far better in Game 4. He was efficient as a scorer and playmaker, taking on an enlarged role after Damian Lillard exited with a lower left leg injury. With Bucks coach Doc Rivers saying after the loss that the outlook for Lillard is “not promising,” Porter may be thrust into the starting lineup for Game 5 on Tuesday. Trailing three games to one, Milwaukee’s goal is to get the series back home for Game 6.

Both reserves are expected to sit out the regular season finale, which isn’t surprising with the Bucks having clinched the fifth seed in the East. Stanley Umude and Andre Jackson Jr. should play significant roles for the shorthanded Bucks.

Porter Jr. continues to be a revelation in the season’s final two weeks. The 24-year-old point guard came off the bench Friday, but played 31 minutes, more than every starter not named Giannis Antetokounmpo. While Porter Jr. has certainly benefited from the absence of Damian Lillard, he’s also been a top-50 fantasy player over the last two weeks. He’s made the most of his opportunity and that shouldn’t go unnoticed.

As with Gary Trent Jr., the absence of Giannis Antetokounmpo (shoulder) meant Porter would move into the starting lineup on Sunday. He had an excellent night in New Orleans, shooting just below 50 percent from the field while not committing a turnover. Porter has not been the safest streaming option with Damian Lillard out of the lineup, but he did boast a higher ceiling. He’ll be worth a look in active leagues for Week 23, as the Bucks play four games.

Porter stepped up for the Bucks in a big way Saturday night, finishing two assists shy of a triple-double. The 12 rebounds were a season-high for the guard, who shot 50 percent from the field and only committed one turnover. Rostered in 12 percent of Yahoo! leagues, Porter has provided 12th-round value in eight-cat formats since Damian Lillard was ruled out with a blood clot in his calf. With Milwaukee playing four games during Week 23, Porter is worth a look in deep leagues that will still be active.

KPJ saw limited minutes off the bench in this one, though he only needed 23 minutes to lead the bench in scoring. Porter Jr. knocked down 8-of-12 shots from the floor and 9-of-9 free throws on his way to a season-high point total. With Damian Lillard out and thin depth, expect KPJ to see minutes north of 20 per game moving forward.

Porter replaced Ryan Rollins in the Bucks’ starting lineup on Wednesday, providing solid value in the rebound and assist categories. However, he shot 33.3 percent from the field, including an 0-of-4 night from three. The lineup change may have benefitted Rollins, who spent more time playing against reserves. He finished 17 points, one rebound, three assists, two steals and two three-pointers in 18 minutes. Fantasy managers who decided to stream Porter should hold onto him, especially with Damian Lillard (calf) out indefinitely.

In addition to Damian Lillard, the Bucks will be without Giannis Antetokounmpo for Wednesday’s game. Bucks coach Doc Rivers has also removed Ryan Rollins from the starting lineup, inserting Porter and Trent. While Trent possesses the safer fantasy floor, both players are worth streaming in this spot.

Trusting Porter in fantasy basketball has been a fool’s errand most nights. However, he came up big for a Bucks team without Damian Lillard. Porter shot 80 percent from the field and provided six assists, compensation for spot starter Ryan Rollins’ subpar performance. Rollins played 21 minutes, going scoreless with two rebounds and four assists. Milwaukee plays four games during Week 21, and Porter will be worth streaming if Lillard remains out.

Porter was initially probable for Saturday’s game, so he was expected to be cleared. He’ll remain with the second unit, which limits the Bucks guard’s fantasy ceiling. He is not a must-roster player.

After an excellent performance in Thursday’s win over the Lakers, Porter is probable for Saturday night with a sprained left ankle. The probable tag suggests he will be available, again providing solid production off the bench. At best, Porter remains a deep-league option, especially when Damian Lillard is healthy.

KPJ has quietly had some terrific performances despite not seeing a major role with the Bucks. He has played over 25 minutes once since being traded to Milwaukee, and he had a triple-double in that game. He has played over 20 minutes four times and has scored in double figures in all of four games. KPJ has scored in double figures while playing 15 or fewer minutes four times. If he keeps playing this well, it will be difficult for Doc Rivers to leave him on the bench. This was only the seventh time in NBA history that a player had at least 22 points and five three-pointers while playing 17 or fewer minutes.

A double-digit scorer in seven of his ten games with the team, Porter appears to be a good fit with the Bucks. Wednesday’s triple-double was his third as a pro and first since the 2022-23 season. However, Porter has been more important to the Bucks, who remain without the suspended Bobby Portis, than fantasy managers. Since the break, he’s ranked well outside the top 100 in eight-cat formats, and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon.
