Bohm finished the series 7-for-13 with six RBI, and his current .717 OPS is his highest mark since the third game of the season. He should go back to putting up strong RBI numbers as long as the Phillies keep batting him third or fourth.

Suárez was downright masterful here. Toronto didn’t have a runner reach scoring position until the seventh inning and barely any balls in play had the chance to do damage. His changeup was the star, forcing four swings-and-misses along with plenty of soft contact sitting on the low and away corner against this right-handed heavy Blue Jays lineup. Suárez looks a lot like the pitcher he did in the first half last season with a 2.32 ERA after another gem. He’ll look to keep his momentum going next time out against the Marlins.

Schwarber’s homer was the big blow for the Phillies in this game against Kevin Gausman who was excellent outside of a horrific second inning. That was Schwarber’s 22nd long ball of the season, good for fourth in the league, as he’s putting together one of the best overall seasons of his career to this point.

Smith hit a 396-foot blast off Adrian Houser in the third for his seventh homer of the year. He also scored on a Corey Seager sac fly and a Marcus Semien double. Smith has 11 hits in his last five games, raising his OPS from .729 to .786.

It sounds like the 26-year-old slugger is still going to be out for another couple of days, but it shouldn’t be anything long term. For what it’s worth, Paredes told reporters after the game that he feels close to 100 percent and should be considered day-to-day. It sounds like fantasy managers may have dodged a bullet on this one.

McMahon has been an utter disaster with men on base this season — he entered the night with 19 RBI in 268 plate appearances and seven of his eight homers had been solo shots — so it was nice to see him knock in runners twice tonight. It’s just his third multi-RBI game of the year, and it’s his first with three RBI since July 30 of last year. Contrast that with fellow NL West third baseman Eugenio Suárez, who has nine three-RBI games this season and actually delivered three in a row last month.
