Bichette is back in the lineup for the first time since he was diagnosed with knee discomfort and scratched from Monday’s game. The 27-year-old is back, but Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is not in the lineup Friday, so Toronto fans will have to wait a day to see their dynamic duo back together.

The 26-year-old second baseman sat out Thursday’s contest with a minor ankle injury, but he’s right back in there on Friday evening. Giménez will start at second base and bat out of the leadoff spot in the Jays’ lineup against Angels’ right-hander Kyle Hendricks on Friday night.

The 28-year-old southpaw did a nice job in four appearances out of the Jays’ bullpen, registering a 2.70 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and a 5/2 K/BB ratio over 3 1/3 innings. It shouldn’t take long for him to get another opportunity with the big league club.

The 30-year-old slugger is still in the process of recovering from a left shoulder subluxation. Nothing has changed in his prognosis, this was done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the team’s 40-man roster for Lazaro Estrada on Friday.

It looks to be just a routine night off for the 24-year-old infielder. Daniel Schneemann will slide over and cover the shortstop position in his absence while Angel Martinez will draw a start at second base and bat ninth against Tigers’ right-hander Reese Olson.

Story hadn’t had a four-hit game since Aug. 13, 2023. He’s 13-for-24 with two homers and 10 RBI in his last six games, raising his OPS to .697. He was at .591 on this day a month ago, and he hasn’t been over .700 since May 3. He’s also now 14-for-14 stealing bases. Byron Buxton, at 15-for-15, is the only other player with as many steals and zero failures.

It’s the 10th homer of the season for Betts, but the first time that he’s gone deep since June 8; a lengthy spell for a player of his quality. The 32-year-old scuffled for the majority of the last month as seen in a .633 OPS, but everyone is aware of how good Betts remains and what he’s capable of. It’s still nice to get a reminder from a player who is slashing a disappointing .246/.321/.383 over his first 79 games.
