Atlanta won’t have an official timetable for Sale’s return until they see how quickly his fractured left rib cage heals, which is presumably when he would be cleared to resume throwing again. The 36-year-old fantasy ace hit the injured list over the weekend and facing an extended absence, even in a best-case scenario, since it’ll likely be several weeks before his ribs heal to the point he’s able to resume throwing. It’ll be intriguing rookie Didier Fuentes who gets the first shot to replace him in Atlanta’s rotation.

Olson has occupied the second spot on Atlanta’s lineup card for three consecutive contests with Austin Riley and Drake Baldwin hitting cleanup and fifth, respectively, on Tuesday night after sharing the position directly behind top-of-the-order igniter Ronald Acuña Jr. in recent weeks. It’s a slight boost for Olson, who should pick up a couple additional at-bats over the course of the next few weeks as a result of the move. The 31-year-old slugging first baseman has been red-hot of late, batting .309 (17-for-55) with two homers and 15 RBI over his last 15 games. He’s also walked 11 times during that span.

The steal was Acuña’s third in 10 games after he attempted none in his first 19 games back from a torn ACL. He’s given the Braves four straight two-hit games, and he’s scored a run in seven straight games, which is pretty impressive given that the Braves have only two other guys (Matt Olson and Drake Baldwin) hitting right now.
