Craig Kimbrel, who has yet to pitch in games since being signed by the Braves on March 18, has been added to the Double-A Columbus roster.

Kimbrel made one injury rehab appearance for the Red Sox in 2015 and four for the Cubs in 2019. Aside from those, he hasn’t pitched in the minors since 2010, the year he debuted with the Braves. If all goes well, he could join Atlanta’s pen in a couple of weeks.

Braves activated INF Nacho Alvarez Jr. from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Alvarez will go back to making a minor league salary after just four rehab games in which he went 4-for-15 with a double. The 22-year-old infielder had been on the IL with wrist inflammation since the beginning of the season.
