Goodman takes a seat for just the third time since June 1. The 25-year-old slugging backstop has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball during that span, batting .350 (21-for-60) with seven round-trippers and 15 RBI over 15 contests. It’ll be rookie Braxton Fulford handling the catching duties on Wednesday night at Nationals Park.

Rockies interim manager Warren Schaeffer told reporters afterwards that he was forced to take Estrada out of the one-sided contest in the seventh inning because he couldn’t hold a bat after being hit by a pitch. He missed time earlier this year with a right wrist fracture. The 29-year-old will undergo further evaluation and imaging to determine the exact nature and severity of the issue. There should be an update on his status prior to Wednesday’s contest.

No surprise here after Jeffers was lifted from Tuesday’s battle after taking a foul ball off his throwing hand. The positive news here is that X-rays came back negative for any fractures and he’s merely dealing with a right hand contusion. He should be able to return at some point later this week once the swelling subsides. It’ll be veteran Christian Vázquez taking over the catching duties in his absence.
