Jorge Polanco had the walkoff hit in the ninth. Crawford didn’t factor in then, and his five times on base tonight led to just one run scored and no RBI. He did steal his fourth base of the year, but he was also caught for the first time after being picked off first. Crawford has been a great surprise in hitting .295/.410/.401 in 285 plate appearances, but since he doesn’t excel in any category, his fantasy value remains limited.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson made it official that Gilbert will return to take the ball for Monday’s series opener against the Red Sox at T-Mobile Park. The 28-year-old righty struck out six over five shutout innings on Tuesday in his final minor league rehab outing for Triple-A Tacoma. He’s been on the shelf since late April recovering from a flexor strain in his right elbow.

The runs scored on a double from Nolan Jones in the fourth and a solo homer from José Ramírez in the fifth. Kirby walked three tonight for the first time since 2022 and just the third time in 94 big-league starts. Still, that’s not a disaster; he might actually benefit from throwing fewer pitches within the strike zone. He’s set to face the Cubs in his next start Friday.

Tellez got the Mariners on the board with a solo homer off Gavin Williams in the fourth inning. It’s the 11th roundtripper of the season for the veteran first baseman, and his double was just his fifth. Tellez certainly has the raw power to hit the ball over the fence, but it’s hard to trust him as a one-tool player playing in a home park that suppresses that tool.

De La Cruz’s home run was his 16th of the year. After the Reds came back to take the lead late in the game, the 23-year-old shortstop extended the lead to 8-4 with a two-run shot off Brennan Hanifee in the top of the ninth inning. De La Cruz is on a hot streak with home runs in each of his last four games. He’s hitting .273 with an .850 OPS and 50 RBI this season.

It’s Holliday’s first day off since May 24. He’s been struggling a bit of late, hitting .248/.275/.421 with four homers and five steals over his last 30 games. There’s been zero indication that Baltimore is considering any alternatives for the leadoff spot. It’ll be Luis Vázquez getting his first start at the keystone.

The D-Backs entered the ninth inning trailing 7-3 with the normally-excellent Robert Suarez on the mound. Didn’t matter. With the bases full, Perdomo smoked a triple into right field to tie the game at 7-7. One batter later, Josh Naylor bounced into a fielder’s choice with Perdomo safe at the plate for the impressive win. He’s now up to 49 RBI over 70 games, and he’s slashed a solid 271/.366/.429 over his 243 at-bats.
