Wednesdayโ€™s game between the Pirates and Tigers has been postponed due to inclement weather.

There was almost zero path to get this contest in based on the forecast around Detroit, which called for some heavy rain later this evening. Itโ€™ll be made up as a doubleheader on Thursday instead with Tigers ace Tarik Skubal facing Andrew Heaney in the front-end of the twin bill. Itโ€™ll be Paul Skenes taking the ball during the nightcap affair.

Kerry Carpenter is not in the lineup for Wednesdayโ€™s game against the Pirates.

Carpenter finds himself on the bench for the third straight contest with lefty Andrew Heaney taking the ball for Pittsburgh. He also took a seat with Bailey Falter toeing the rubber on Tuesday and Reds southpaw Wade Miley drawing Sundayโ€™s starting assignment. Itโ€™ll be Wenceel Pรฉrez handling right field for the third consecutive game.

Riley Greene went 2-for-4 and clobbered a two-run homer on Tuesday as the Tigers triumphed over the Pirates in Motown.

Greene victimized Piratesโ€™ right-hander Carmen Mlodzinski in the seventh inning, demolishing a 3-2 slider for a 436-foot (113.7 mph EV) two-run blast โ€” Greeneโ€™s longest home run of the season. He also singled in the sixth inning and scored on an RBI triple off the bat of Wenceel Perez. With his two-hit attack, the 24-year-old outfielder is now slashing .278/.333/.502 with 15 home runs and 51 RBI.

Josh Smith (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Wednesdayโ€™s showdown against the Royals.

Smith will sit out his second straight contest due to a lingering minor left hamstring issue. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy downplayed concern earlier this week and it sounds like the reigning American League Player of the Week will avoid a trip to the injured list. Iโ€™ll be Ezequiel Duran taking over at DH on Wednesday night in his absence.

Josh Smith is on the bench for Tuesdayโ€™s series opener against the Royals with left

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters he doesnโ€™t believe Smith will require a trip to the injured list. The reigning American League Player of the Week will take a seat for precautionary reasons during Tuesdayโ€™s series opener with Evan Carter, who has been on a hot streak of his own, bumping up to the leadoff spot. The versatile 27-year-old has been on fire at the dish recently, hitting .356 (21-for-59) with three homers, eight RBI and three stolen bases over his last 15 games. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.
