    Marcus Semien

    TEX • 2B • #

Marcus Semien singled, drew a pair of walks and scored three runs as the Rangers walloped the Orioles on Tuesday evening in Arlington.

Semien drew a walk in the third inning and ultimately scored on a two-out RBI single by Jonah Heim. He then singled in the sixth, swiped second base and scored on a two-run knock by Adolis Garcia. The 34-year-old infielder also walked in the eighth inning and scored on a two-run double by Justin Foscue. He finished the night 1-for-3 and is now slashing .238/.317/.355 with eight long balls, 37 RBI and seven stolen bases on the year.

    Injury

Wyatt Langford (oblique) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Thursday with Triple-A Round Rock.

Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young told reporters Langford is expected to be activated for Saturday’s game against the Padres. The 23-year-old outfielder will get in at least a handful of minor league contests after making it through Wednesday’s live batting practice session without any issues.

Rangers activated 1B Jake Burger from the 10-day injured list.

Burger make his return to Texas’ lineup for Wednesday’s showdown against the Orioles after wrapping up a lightning-quick minor league rehab assignment that lasted exactly one game. The 29-year-old slugger, who wound up requiring only a minimum injured list stint with a mild oblique strain, has underwhelmed this season in his Rangers debut, but there’s still plenty of time for him to turn things around in the second half.

    Transaction

Rangers optioned 3B Josh Jung to Triple-A Round Rock.

This certainly qualifies as an unexpected development. Jung has been mired in a prolonged slump at the dish for the last few weeks, hitting .164 (19-for-116) with one homer and 16 RBI over his last 30 games. He’s struggled to a lackluster .237/.283/.366 slash line with just eight homers and 35 RBI over 75 games this season. He’ll get a chance to reset at the Triple-A level and work on things out of the spotlight. It’ll likely be some combination of Josh Smith and Ezequiel Duran taking over at the hot corner.

    Injury

Jordan Westburg (finger) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Rangers.

The Westburg situation is extremely frustrating for fantasy managers since it sounds like he’s dead-set against going on the injured list and will need to manage the ongoing left index finger issue for the remainder of the year. He’ll sit out on Wednesday night for the fifth straight contest and eighth time in Baltimore’s last 10 games overall. It’ll be Ramón Urías continuing to handle the hot corner in his absence.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. is at third base and batting fifth on Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

Chisholm remains at the hot corner despite some pointed postgame remarks following Tuesday’s game in Toronto where he seemed to express his displeasure at not being utilized at second base. Yankees manager Aaron Boone continues to inexplicably continue rolling with veteran DJ LeMahieu at the spot, despite the fact he’s been a complete disaster from a defensive standpoint. This feels like a potential powder keg situation that could explode at any point.

    Recap

Andrés Giménez went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer and a walk against the Yankees on Tuesday.

The homer off Max Fried was his first against a lefty this season. It was also a rare center field blast for a guy who typically has to pull the ball to get it over the fence. Gimenez, who came into the day right on the Mendoza Line (40-for-200 this season), is now batting .207/.293/.315.
