The Westburg situation is extremely frustrating for fantasy managers since it sounds like he’s dead-set against going on the injured list and will need to manage the ongoing left index finger issue for the remainder of the year. He’ll sit out on Wednesday night for the fifth straight contest and eighth time in Baltimore’s last 10 games overall. It’ll be Ramón Urías continuing to handle the hot corner in his absence.

There’s an avenue for Barrero to make it to Baltimore’s injury-depleted bench mix at some point in the coming weeks with utility specialist Jorge Mateo facing a two-month absence due to a hamstring strain. The 27-year-old elected free agency over the weekend after being jettisoned from St. Louis’ 40-man roster and passing through waivers unclaimed.

Martin will have a chance to make his debut with the Orioles, and make his first appearance in the majors since July 30, 2022. The former second-round pick will be a multi-inning option for Baltimore while he’s with the club.

Bowman is no stranger to hitting the waiver wire, and the 34-year-old will be on that market again with the Orioles selecting the contract of Corbin Martin to take his place. If Bowman goes unclaimed, he can either report to Triple-A Norfolk, or he can look for a new club via free agency.

Chisholm remains at the hot corner despite some pointed postgame remarks following Tuesday’s game in Toronto where he seemed to express his displeasure at not being utilized at second base. Yankees manager Aaron Boone continues to inexplicably continue rolling with veteran DJ LeMahieu at the spot, despite the fact he’s been a complete disaster from a defensive standpoint. This feels like a potential powder keg situation that could explode at any point.

The homer off Max Fried was his first against a lefty this season. It was also a rare center field blast for a guy who typically has to pull the ball to get it over the fence. Gimenez, who came into the day right on the Mendoza Line (40-for-200 this season), is now batting .207/.293/.315.
