Baldwin finds himself behind the plate for the fourth time in the last five games as he continues to carve out an even greater role during his rookie campaign. The 24-year-old backstop has been one of the more impactful catchers in the fantasy landscape, hitting .288/.355/.471 with eight homers and 25 RBI across 52 games. His emergence has relegated veteran Sean Murphy to more of a true backup role in recent days.

The Braves scored all of their runs between the sixth and eighth innings tonight, with Olson driving in runs in both frames. He’s made a big charge over the last month, hitting .308 with eight homers, 14 doubles and 31 RBI in his last 34 games to raise his OPS from .720 to .844, and he has a good case for the third All-Star appearance of his career next month.

There were indications last night that Cruz might not play today after being pulled for forgetting how many outs there were last night, but while he did start, he was dropped in the lineup. He finished the day without a hard-hit ball, though he did reach on an Isaac Collins error on a fly to left. It could have been ruled a double, but not today.

It wound up being a brief shutdown for Varsho after experiencing some renewed hamstring soreness while running the bases over the weekend. The 28-year-old outfielder underwent a precautionary MRI earlier this week that didn’t reveal any structural damage. He should be ready to start a minor league rehab assignment at some point in the coming days.

Rodríguez had three strikeouts and two sacrifice flies. Baseball-Reference says it’s just the third time that’s happened since 1900; J.T. Snow did it for the Giants in 2001 and the immortal Omir Santos matched the feat in 2009. For Rodríguez, it makes seven RBI in three games. That’s not spectacular, but we’ll take it; he had totaled six RBI over his previous 26 games.
