He also drew a walk. Trout smashed his 13th home of the season with a solo shot off Zach Brzykcy, and it tied the game at 2-2. The Angels would score the next six runs. It’s the fourth homer of the month for the future Hall of Famer, and he’s driven in 31 runs in 2025 over just 56 games. As long as Trout can stay healthy — a big ask at this point, to be sure — the numbers should be there.

Trout gets his first day off since June 1 after launching a solo homer during Saturday’s one-sided win over the Nationals. The 33-year-old future Hall of Famer hasn’t experienced any issues with his surgically-repaired knee since coming back from the injured list, but the Angels have strictly limited him to DH in an effort to preserve his long-term health.

There’s been no indication that Neto will require a trip to the injured list, and he’s been able to come off the bench to pinch-hit in each of the previous two games, but the Angels are going to give him some extra time off to rest and recover with Monday’s off-day looming. It’ll be veteran Kevin Newman handling shortstop in his absence. The 24-year-old shortstop figures to be ready for Tuesday’s series opener against Atlanta at Truist Park.

Newman broke the game open with a three-run blast in the seventh inning to turn a 3-2 lead into a 6-2 cushion. The 31-year-old is playing while Zach Neto (shoulder) isn’t healthy enough to start, and even with the homer and another hit, he’s slashing .202/.212/.262 over 84 at-bats.

Yelich tagged Germán Márquez for a 363-foot (102.6 mph EV) solo shot in the home half of the sixth inning that extended the Brewers’ lead to 2-0. That would be his only hit in five at-bats on the day. For the season, the 33-year-old outfielder is slashing .262/.337/.457 with 16 homers, 60 RBI and 12 stolen bases through his first 337 plate appearances.

Ozuna, who hadn’t struck out more than twice in a game this season previously, fanned three times against Ranger Suárez and once versus Orion Kerkering. He’s hitting .175 with just one homer in his last 25 games, which makes it worth wondering if his hip injury is affecting him. He’s still doing fine from an exit velocity and xwOBA standpoint, though.

It’s a significant development for Alvarez as he appears to be on the precipice of finally making it back to Houston’s lineup after missing nearly two months recovering from a small fracture in his right hand. The 28-year-old fantasy stalwart remains without a definitive return timeline, but the fact that he’s progressed to on-field hitting without any setbacks puts him extremely close to resuming game action.
