Gonzales finally got the Pirates on the board in the sixth inning, victimizing right-hander Freddy Peralta for a 395-foot (100.7 mph EV) three-run blast. That would wind up being the extent of their scoring in the contest. The 26-year-old infielder also struck out twice in the ballgame. On the season, he’s slashing a terrific .316/.345/.519 with three homers and 10 RBI in his first 84 plate appearances.

Kelly declined to say whether Cruz would be back in the lineup for Wednesday’s contest. Clearly, he’s trying to send a message after the 26-year-old displayed a lack of hustle when he hit into a double play in his final at-bat of the contest. The only positive here for fantasy managers is that his early exit wasn’t injury-related.

The 34-year-old southpaw walked three and struck out three batters on the night. Most of the damage was done via the long ball, with Joey Ortiz socking a two-run dinger in the third and a solo shot in the fourth inning while Caleb Durbin belted a three-run shot in the fourth. Heaney also allowed the first two hitters to reach to open the fifth inning and one ultimately scored against the bullpen. He got five swings and misses on 85 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of only 24 percent. He’ll attempt to bounce back as he brings a 4.38 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and a 64/30 K/BB ratio (86 1/3 innings) into Monday’s matchup against the Cardinals.

Vargas fractured his feet on Tuesday night when he was hit by a pitch. We don’t yet have a timeline for his recovery, but given that it’s already almost July, it might be hard for Vargas to heal and return to the Diamondbacks roster before the end of the season. Blaze Alexander will take over his role as a reserve infielder.

Castro, who has missed three starts with a sore right wrist, pinch-hit for Kody Clemens in the sixth and stayed in to play second base afterwards. It’s possible he’ll be back in the starting lineup against George Kirby on Wednesday.

Moore had quite the night at home against the Red Sox. With the Angels down 1-0 in the eighth inning, he took Greg Weissert deep for a game-tying solo homer. Down by one again in the bottom of the tenth, he went yard again for a walk-off, two-run blast off Justin Wilson. The 22-year-old second baseman certainly has excellent power upside if he can overcome some swing-and-miss issues.
