There’s no room for Walton with New York’s overcrowded infield mix so they’ve decided to ship him to the division-rival Phillies where he’ll have more of an opportunity to get back to the big leagues. The 31-year-old utility specialist has only appeared in just nine major-league games over the last three years. He’s merely organizational fodder at this juncture of his career.

The teams both have Thursday off, but they’ll try to get in two tomorrow, with the games scheduled to start at 1:05 and 6:15 p.m. Nick Pivetta and Chrisopher Sánchez were the scheduled starters tonight. They’ll both surely go tomorrow.

The team will see how Nola responds and then decide the next step. The veteran would likely progress to throwing bullpens before a rehab assignment. At this point, the best-case scenario would be a return right after the All-Star break, but early August may be a better bet.

Castellanos gave the Phillies a commanding four-run advantage with a fifth-inning solo shot against Padres knuckleballer Matt Waldron. The 33-year-old veteran corner outfielder has gone deep twice in his last four contests.

Westburg was optimistic that he would return for Tuesday’s showdown in Texas, but the Orioles are apparently going to give him another day off. The 26-year-old infielder has been out of the lineup for four consecutive games, and seven of the last nine overall, as he continues to manage an ongoing left index finger issue. It’ll be veteran Ramón Urías taking over at third base again in his absence.

It looked for all the world that Arias broke his ankle when he caught a clea trying to slide in the outfield grass Sunday, but fortunately, it was just a bad sprain. He still figures to miss a considerable amount of time, but he could be back to contribute at some point during the second half. Arias was hitting .231/.293/.369 in 281 plate appearances.

It’s worth noting this was the fourth consecutive extra-inning game for the Rangers, and the fifth time they’ve played past the ninth in their last six. Weird. Semien also reached twice via walk for one of his best games of the 2025 campaign. It’s a bit of faint praise, as the 34-year-old has disappointed in 2025 with a .237/.315/.355 slash, eight homers and 37 runs driven in.
