Burger wound up on the injured list back in late June with a left oblique strain and shouldn’t require more than a couple rehab contests to get back up to speed. He’ll take over as the Rangers’ primary first baseman once he’s ready to return.

Carter won’t be available off the bench as he is away from the club on Monday night tending to a non-health related family matter. The 22-year-old should return for Tuesday’s contest.

Josh Smith is also taking a seat on Monday night with lefty Trevor Rogers taking the hill for Baltimore at Globe Life Field. The 22-year-old former top prospect is in the midst of a seven-game hitting streak, batting .357 (10-for-28) with three steals during that span. It’ll be Michael Helman getting his first start in center field with Justin Foscue filling in at the cold corner.

Nootbaar has been dealing with some intercostal soreness in the area of his ribs for the past couple days and will open Monday’s contest on the bench for the second straight game. The 27-year-old outfielder was just starting to get into a groove at the plate, so the timing of the issue is frustrating for fantasy managers. It sounds like he’ll avoid a trip to the injured list for now, but that’s hardly a guarantee. It’ll be Brendan Donovan heading out to left field with rookie Thomas Saggese drawing into Monday’s lineup at second base.

Greene victimized Twins’ right-hander Chris Paddack for his 381-foot (102.6 mph EV) solo shot in the fourth inning that extended the Tigers’ lead to 2-0. That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the night, but proved to be more than enough run support for Tarik Skubal and company. Greene has had an outstanding first half, slashing .296/.348/.539 with 19 long balls and 63 RBI.

Ward opened the scoring in the ballgame with an RBI double off of Mitchell Parker that plated Nolan Schanuel in the first inning to give the Angels an early 1-0 lead. Ward also led off the sixth inning with a double and scored on an RBI knock off the bat of Jo Adell. With his three-hit afternoon, the 31-year-old outfielder is now slashing .216/.287/.481 with 20 homers and 57 RBI on the season.
