Acuña made it official on Wednesday that he’ll compete in the star-studded event for the third time in his career, this time on his home turf at Truist Park, after expressing interest earlier this month. The 27-year-old franchise cornerstone has been exceptional since making his season debut back on May 23, hitting .385/.496/.692 with nine homers through 29 games. Amazingly, no Atlanta hitter has ever won the event.

The Braves sent LHP Austin Cox to Triple-A Gwinnett after yesterday’s game, so now Petersen will be recalled to take his place on the active roster. Petersen has allowed two runs on three hits in three innings with two strikeouts and no walks.

The Braves offense was mostly quiet in this one besides a futile ninth inning rally and Baldwin’s impressive blast. He got his barrel on a two-strike slider from Clay Holmes that was diving low out of the zone and somehow sent it 433 feet to straight away center field. Even this blurb is not doing it justice. He has serious power and has hit so well during this rookie season that he’s somewhat overtaken Sean Murphy at catcher.

Schlitter struck out nine while walking one and allowing just two hits. The 6'6" righty has been lights out in his four starts at Triple-A, posting a 1.69 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and 33/8 K/BB ratio in 21 1/3 innings. There’s a chance the 24-year-old could push for innings with the Yankees at some point over the summer.

Springer is on a five-game hitting streak, going 9-for-19 over that stretch, so he’s just getting a routine day off. Bo Bichette will slide to the designated hitter role with Ernie Clement at shortstop, Addison Barger at third base, and Jonatan Clase starting in left field.

Hitters get hot all the time. Not many hitters have ever gotten as hot as Soto has this month. He has 10 home runs and a .315/.485/.685 slash line through 23 games in June. Even more impressively, this multi-homer game was the 27th of Soto’s career. With it, he passed the legendary Jimmie Foxx for the most multi-home run games before turning 27 years old. Despite a “cold” start to the season, Soto now leads the Mets with 19 home runs and has an .898 OPS. In case there was any question about it, he’s back to being one of the few best hitters in the entire sport.
