Pittsburgh has won four consecutive games by at least seven runs following Monday’s latest one-sided blowout. Horwitz was the primary catalyst in this one, kicking off the scoring with a first-inning solo shot — his second round-tripper of the season — against Cardinals starter Erick Fedde. He also tacked on a two-run double in the fifth inning as part of a six-run explosion for the Pirates red-hot offense.

Heaney took a no-hit bid into the sixth inning before Victor Scott II came through with a two-out single. He finished with seven strikeouts and only issued one walk. It was a badly-needed rebound effort for the 34-year-old southpaw after surrendering seven runs in each of his previous two starts. He’ll bring a respectable 4.16 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 71/31 K/BB ratio across 93 innings (17 starts) into a road tilt on Sunday against the Mariners.

Cruz remains stuck in the fifth spot despite a two-homer performance during Sunday’s drubbing of the Mets. It’ll be Spencer Horwitz leading off on Monday night as Pirates interim manager Don Kelly continues to shake up his lineup card. The 26-year-old power/speed combo center fielder has been scuffling in recent weeks, so the decision to drop him in the lineup could wind up igniting an offensive surge.

Yorke was acquired from Boston at last year’s trade deadline for Quinn Priester, so the Pirates are probably not thrilled about how well Priester has looked after overhauling his arsenal in Boston this offseason. Yorke is slashing .276/.346/.374 with four home runs and 11 steals in 64 games in Triple-A this season. At some point, he probably deserves a look in Pittsburgh.

It’s Goldschmidt’s fourth straight start after he spent a lot of time on the bench against righties the previous two weeks. That he’s getting picked over Ben Rice today surely has a lot to do with him being 7-for-13 with a homer and five walks lifetime against Gausman.

The double failed to produce any of the runs batted in; he had an RBI groundout in the fifth and then a two-run single an inning later. The single would have been gloved by Jazz Chisholm Jr. at third if it was just a mere regular hard-hit ball, but Guerrero smoked the grounder at 115.7 mph.

It’ll be Pavin Smith taking over at the cold corner with Naylor on the bench for the third consecutive game due to neck spasms. The Diamondbacks aren’t in a position to take any chances with one of their key offensive cogs, so Naylor will get some extra time off to rest and recover until the lingering issue subsides. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.
