Turner kicked off an impressive three-hit performance with a leadoff homer against Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara before tacking on a pivotal insurance run with a seventh-inning single to left field. The 31-year-old speedy shortstop, who is hitting .312 (39-for-125) with six homers and nine steals over his last 30 games, has already matched last year’s stolen base total with 19 thefts through 70 games. He’s also on pace to reach the 20-homer plateau for the fifth consecutive season.

Stott managed to finish the contest, but will undergo further evaluation and testing to determine the severity of the issue. It sounds like he could wind up getting a couple days off this week as a result of the issue. There should be some clarity on his status ahead of Tuesday’s game.

Phillies manager Rob Thomson handed the ball to Kerkering to protect a three-run lead in the final frame after Jordan Romano and Matt Strahm worked the seventh and eighth innings, respectively, with the score much tighter at the time. The hard-throwing 24-year-old righty made it look easy against the bottom of Miami’s order, getting Eric Wagaman to ground out and striking out Liam Hicks before putting away Connor Norby on a harmless ground out to seal the victory. Kerkering will likely be in position to vulture the occasional save chance moving forward, which gives him some appeal in deeper fantasy formats.

It was a nice bounce-back performance for Abel after getting rocked for three homers by the Cubs his last time out. He piled up three strikeouts and only handed out one free pass. The 23-year-old rookie right-hander will carry a pristine 2.21 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 17/4 K/BB ratio across 20 1/3 innings (four starts) into a tough home matchup on Saturday against the division-rival Mets to close out a two-start week.

Crawford broke the game open in the second inning as he crushed a 1-2 slider from Luis Ortiz for a 377-foot (99.0 mph EV) grand slam to right field that increased the M’s advantage to 5-0. That would be his only hit on the afternoon but was more than enough to support Emerson Hancock and company. On the season, the 30-year-old shortstop is now hitting .296/.411/.413 with six homers and 29 RBI.
