Abreu is eligible to return Thursday, and it looks like he’ll be ready then. With Rafael Devers gone, the Red Sox will likely give Roman Anthony a lot of DH time, with Jarren Duran also occasionally occupying the spot. Abreu will resume his platoon with Rob Refsnyder.

What year is it? Chapman continues to throw the baseball past hitters, and he needed just 13 pitches to mow down the Seattle order while picking up his 13th save. Two of those offerings were clocked above 100 mph, and he lowered his ERA to 1.50 in the process.

This was vintage Giolito, with help by a vintage Seattle Mariner offensive performance. The 30-year-old was able to procure 18 swings-and-misses on 91 pitches, and all three hits allowed were singles. In fact, all three knocks came back-to-back-to-back in the third inning, and Giolito struck out the next three hitters he faced, including Cal Raleigh to end the threat. That’s back-to-back impressive outings for Giolito to lower his ERA from 6.42 to 4.73. He’ll take on the Giants in San Francisco next week while squaring off against former teammate Rafael Devers.

Duran took advantage of a misplay by Dom Canzone in the corner outfield and put his ever-so-impressive wheels to use. That’s already the eighth triple of the season for the 28-year-old, which puts him on pace for 17 in 2025. It’d be easy to say that number isn’t sustainable, but he’s coming off a 14-triple season in 2025, so, sure.

Teams typically keep little punishments like this in house, so it’s interesting that Thomson is choosing to make a point of it. Castellanos had started all 162 games last year and all 72 games this season for the Phillies. Johan Rojas gets a start tonight with Castellanos absent.

Veen resumed playing in games Friday, going 2-for-7 with four walks in three Rookie ball appearances. The 23-year-old got off to a fast start at Albuquerque was called up by the Rockies less than two weeks into the season. However, he was sent back down after a 4-for-34 start, and he mostly struggled back in Triple-A, hitting .170/.254/.226 in 14 games in May. If he produces, he’ll likely earn a longer look in the majors in the second half.
