Angels’ skipper Ron Washington had said that Neto would play nine innings at shortstop there next week, but it looks like he may be a bit ahead of schedule. The final hurdle for Neto to clear is playing nine innings at shortstop in consecutive games, which sounds like it could happen early next week. His return is imminent.

Schanuel’s home run was his fourth of the year. He hit a solo shot off Scott Blewett in the first inning. Schanuel is hitting .282 with a .770 OPS and 22 RBI on the year. He doesn’t have enough power or speed for shallow formats, but can be a useful bat in AL-Only and deeper mixed leagues.

Kikuchi gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out 10. The 33-year-old left-hander had his strikeout stuff working, but was also fairly hittable against the Orioles on Sunday. Kikuchi struck out the first two batters in the sixth inning before allowing a single to Gary Sanchez. Cedric Mullins laid a bunt down and Kikuchi threw it away allowing Sanchez to score and Mullins to reach third base. Coby Mayo followed with an RBI double to chase Kikuchi. He has a 3.05 ERA on the year heading into his start against the Astros at home next weekend.
