The converted quarterback has appeared in 30 games over the previous two seasons after missing significant time in 2021 due to a torn ACL. The 49ers had been in the market for help at tight end following the offseason departures of Ross Dwelley and Charlie Woerner, now securing a viable option behind one of the top tight ends in the game in George Kittle. The specifics of the deal have yet to be released, but it is safe to assume Thomas will see the field at a non-negligible rate after Dwelley and Woerner combined for more than 400 offensive snaps a season ago.
