Brock Purdy

Brock Purdy

SFFQB • #13

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the 49ers “still plan on locking Brock Purdy up on a long-term extension” in the offseason.

While the 49ers’ season hasn’t gone as expected. They are 5-7 with playoff odds quickly approaching zero. But it’s hard to place much of their failure on Purdy’s shoulders. None of San Francisco’s skill position players, including Purdy, have stayed healthy this year and the once-elite offensive line has been banged up and underperforming. Despite all of this, Purdy is eighth in EPA per play among quarterbacks, proving he isn’t purely a product of an elite situation. The 49ers will have some hard decisions to make in the offseason, but extending their quarterback won’t be one of them.
