Edman sat out Wednesday’s game due to right ankle discomfort and after Thursday’s off-day he’s still feeling it a bit so he’ll get another breather. At the moment, it doesn’t sound like anything that’s going to require a trip to the injured list, but if it lingers through the weekend the Dodgers’ hand may ultimately be forced. Miguel Rojas will start in his place at second base on Friday night and will bat ninth against Grant Holmes and the Braves.

Off the injured list for nearly two weeks, the Dodgers called on Phillips for his first save chance of the season and he got through it with little stress. Most interesting, the Braves sent the heart of their order up in that ninth inning after manager Dave Roberts pitched their presumed closer Tanner Scott the inning prior against the bottom of the lineup. There were some strange circumstances in this game as a storm rolled in and caused a lengthy delay before the ninth inning began, but that usage pattern seemingly opens the door for Phillips to siphon off more save opportunities from Scott moving forward.

Betts’ sixth inning blast was both the last run the Dodgers would score and the last one they would need as they clung to a 2-1 lead through the late innings and a lengthy rain delay. He turned on a fastball from Grant Holmes and now has eight hits and nine RBI over his last five games. This could be the beginning of a serious hot streak for Betts.

The 29-year-old right-hander has started facing live hitters at the team’s spring training complex in Arizona. Given the fact that he was recently shifted to the 60-day injured list, Kopech won’t be eligible to return until the end of May so the Dodgers are going to take their time as they build him back up on his rehab assignment.

Brewers’ manager Pat Murphy told reporters after the game that Turang was still feeling the effects from his recent illness and was having trouble breathing, which is why he was pulled from the game. It wouldn’t be too surprising to see him get another day to rest on Saturday, but he shouldn’t be looking at any sort of extended absence. The 25-year-old speedster should be considered day-to-day.

Lopez sustained the injury while in the field during the first inning of Friday’s battle against the Athletics. He’s currently undergoing further evaluation. Javier Sonaja replaced him at second base on Friday night and could be in line for increased action there if Lopez winds up missing any time.

Tigers’ manager A.J. Hinch noted that Torres was removed from Friday’s game due to minor tightness in his hamstring and that the team had already planned to give him the day off on Friday anyways. He’s tentatively expected to return to the Tigers’ lineup on Saturday.
