J.C. Escarra

J.C. Escarra blasted his first big league home run on Sunday as the Yankees triumphed over the Blue Jays in the second game of their doubleheader.
The 30-year-old rookie backstop victimized right-hander Chad Green for his 415-foot (105.0 mph EV) solo shot, extending the Yankees’ lead to 5-1 and costing teammate Luke Weaver a shot at a save. Escarra also delivered a run-scoring single in the sixth inning, finishing the night 2-for-4 with two RBI. On the season, he’s now slashing .200/.310/.400 with one homer and three RBI in his limited action.
Clarke Schmidt
NYY •
Clarke Schmidt pitched well in a no-decision against the Blue Jays on Sunday, giving up just one run on one hit over five strong frames.
The 29-year-old hurler racked up six strikeouts on the night but also issued four walks which led to an elevated pitch count and cost him a shot at a victory in this one. The lone tally against him came on a solo blast off the bat of Anthony Santander in the third inning. Schmidt generated 14 swings and misses on 90 pitches in the ballgame — seven of those on his knuckle curve — while registering a strong CSW of 34 percent. Still in search of his first victory on the season, Schmidt will carry a 5.52 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and a 15/9 K/BB ratio (14 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Rays.
Anthony Santander

Anthony Santander slugged his third home run of the season on Sunday, accounting for all of the Blue Jays’ offense in a loss to the Yankees.
The 30-year-old outfielder tagged Yankees’ starter Clarke Schmidt for a 401-foot (104.8 mph EV) solo shot in the third inning that tied the game at 1-1. That would be it for the Jays’ offense. Santander finished the evening 1-for-3 plus a walk. He has really struggled through the first month of the season, slashing an anemic .179/.261/.302 with three homers and only nine RBI.
Chris Bassitt
TOR •
Chris Bassitt wasn’t at his best in Sunday’s loss to the Yankees, giving up four runs on six hits over his 5 2/3 innings of work.
Bassitt stuck out five batters on the evening while issuing one base on balls. He had been locked in a tight 1-1 pitcher’s duel with Clarke Schmidt until the sixth inning where the wheels fell off for him. There, he surrendered a leadoff solo homer to Aaron Judge and allowed a two-out RBI double to Jasson Dominguez before turning the ball over to the bullpen. The pen allowed Dominguez to score as well, creating the final line. Bassitt got six whiffs on 92 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of just 23 percent. After losing two straight starts, Bassitt still sports a terrific 2.62 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and a 39/7 K/BB ratio over 34 1/3 innings through his first six outings. He’ll look to right the ship when he takes on the Guardians at home on Saturday.
Jack Leiter
TEX •
Jack Leiter yielded two runs and walked four in 3 1/3 innings Sunday against the Giants.
Back from a blister that put him on the IL, Leiter seemed more like the guy he was last year than the one who was so impressive in two starts to begin the season. Besides the four walks, he also got just four misses on 31 swings, and five of the nine balls in play against him were hit hard. Still, those who held on to him during his IL stint should at least see how he performs next against the Mariners before considering dropping him.
Luke Jackson
TEX •
After entering a tie game in the ninth, Luke Jackson gave up a single to the only batter he faced and took a loss to the Giants.
That single was a Heliot Ramos roller that Jackson barehanded and then threw into right field. Ramos took second, hesitated for some odd reason and then finally ran to third in what turned out to be a genius play, since the Rangers botched that throw, too, allowing Ramos to score. So, Jackson’s pitching wasn’t really a problem today, or at least wasn’t given the chance to become one. He fell to 0-3, but since the run was unearned, his ERA is unchanged.
Andy Pages
LAD • CF
Andy Pages went 4-for-5 with a homer and four RBI as the Dodgers crushed the Pirates 9-2 on Sunday.
What a series for Pages; he had three hits in all three games, finishing 10-for-12 with three doubles to go along with the homer. He also homered against the Cubs both Tuesday and Wednesday. His OPS has climbed from .544 all of the way to .861 over the last week, and he might as well be tried in mixed leagues until he cools off.
Ben Casparius
LAD •
Ben Casparius struck out five in 3 2/3 scoreless innings after replacing an injured Tyler Glasnow against the Pirates on Sunday.
Casparius was credited with the win, making him 3-0 with a 2.91 ERA in 21 1/3 innings. He was expected to start Wednesday’s game, though if that happens now, it’d probably be a shorter outing, given that he’d be on two days’ rest after throwing 54 pitches. If he winds up getting a real look as a starter in Glasnow’s place, he’d be intriguing.
Yoendrys Gómez
LAD •
Yoendrys Gómez recorded a three-inning save against the Pirates in his Dodgers debut Sunday.
Gómez pitched three scoreless frames and struck out four to finish out a 9-2 game. The 25-year-old righty was picked up Friday after being DFA’d by the Yankees. He’ll likely mostly pitch in low leverage situations.
Bailey Falter
PIT •
Bailey Falter gave up seven runs — five earned — in 4 1/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Dodgers.
Falter’s middling arsenal doesn’t really hold up very well against lineups like the Dodgers’ starting nine. He also gave up seven runs to the Yankees earlier this season. He has a 3.28 ERA against the Marlins, Reds, Nationals and Angels, though. He’ll face the Padres next.
Teoscar Hernández
LAD • RF
Teoscar Hernández clobbered his 200th career homer Sunday against the Pirates.
Hernández was removed for a pinch-hitter afterwards, but that was probably due to the 9-2 score. The homer was his third in four games and eighth of 2025. Next up for him is his 200th career double; he entered the day with 199 of those, too.
Andrew McCutchen
PIT • DH
Andrew McCutchen went 4-for-4 and hit his third homer Sunday against the Dodgers.
There’s a good chance the Pirates cost themselves a game or two by not simply shutting down Bryan Reynolds when he was hurting earlier this season and instead benching McCutchen and using an injured player at DH. That’s in the past now; Reynolds is healthy and back in right field, allowing McCutchen to resume his DH duties. One of McCutchen’s singles today left the bat at 110.2 mph, his hardest-hit ball since 2022. He’s hitting .276/.368/.447 in 87 plate appearances.
Cal Raleigh
SEA • DH
Cal Raleigh went 1-for-5 and blasted his 10th home run of the season on Sunday, helping to power the Mariners to a 7-6 victory over the Marlins.
The 28-year-old slugger did his damage during the first inning of this one, crushing a Max Meyer first-pitch fastball for a 368-foot (101.2 mph EV) solo shot. The Big Dumper now leads the league with his 10 long balls and it’s the first time in his career that he has hit 10 or more homers in a single month. On the season, he’s slashing .229/.333/.560 to go along with the aforementioned 10 dingers, 17 RBI and three stolen bases.
Jorge Polanco
SEA • 3B-2B
Jorge Polanco went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a pair of RBI on Sunday afternoon as the Mariners triumphed over the Marlins.
The 31-year-old infielder did his damage in the second inning of this one, smacking a two-out, RBI double off of Max Meyer that increased the Mariners’ early lead to 4-1. He then tacked on a two-out RBI single in the fourth inning that made it a 5-1 ballgame. Polanco was also hit by a pitch in the contest, reaching base safely in three of his four plate appearances. He has been terrific through the first month of the season, slashing .377/.405/.739 with seven homers, 20 RBI and a stolen base.
Andrés Muñoz
SEA •
Andrés Muñoz slammed the door on the Marlins on Sunday, working a scoreless ninth inning to protect a one-run advantage.
The Mariners’ lead had been much more comfortable until Connor Norby crushed a three-run homer in the eighth inning to make it a one-run game. Muñoz made it look easy though, getting Xavier Edwards on a called third strike before getting Jesus Sanchez and Agustín Ramírez each to ground out to second base to end it. Muñoz has now converted each of his first 10 save chances on the season and he has yet to allow a run through his first 14 innings on the season.
Logan Evans
SEA •
Logan Evans was victorious in his MLB debut on Sunday afternoon, limiting the Marlins to two runs on two hits over his five frames.
The 23-year-old right-hander walked three and struck out three in the ballgame. He served up a long solo homer to Agustín Ramírez in the opening inning, then kept the Marlins at bay until they scratched out a run in his final inning of work. Evans got four swings and misses on 78 pitches on the day, posting an underwhelming CSW of only 17 percent. It sounds like he’ll get an opportunity to continue to work out of Logan Gilbert’s spot in the rotation, which means he’ll get the ball again on Sunday against the Rangers in Arlington.
Agustín Ramírez
MIA • C
Agustín Ramírez went 2-for-5 and clobbered a pair of solo home runs on Sunday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to power the Marlins past the Mariners in Seattle.
The 23-year-old phenom opened the scoring in the ballgame with a 404-foot (105.1 mph EV) solo shot off of Logan Evans in the top half of the first inning. He then tagged Collin Snider for a 421-foot (108.7 mph EV) blast in the sixth inning that pulled the Marlins to within four runs at 7-3. Fantasy managers who were hoping Ramírez would have a quiet debut so they could sneak him through for a reasonable bid on Sunday night are completely out of luck as he has slashed a ridiculous .474/.524/1.158 with three homers, five RBI and a stolen base. Expect him to remain a force in the middle of the Marlins’ lineup.
Max Meyer
MIA •
Max Meyer was hit hard during Sunday afternoon’s loss to the Mariners, surrendering five runs on five hits in his four innings of work.
The 26-year-old right-hander also issued four walks while striking out six opposing hitters on the day. He served up a solo homer to Cal Raleigh in the opening inning, then the M’s broke the game open with three runs in the second on run-scoring knocks from Julio Rodriguez and Jorge Polanco. Meyer got eight swings and misses on 86 pitches in the game, posting a CSW of 30 percent. He’ll attempt to bounce back from this rough outing as he carries a 3.18 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and a 47/11 K/BB ratio (34 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Athletics.
Luis Urías
ATH • PH-3B
Luis Urías hit a two-run homer off Jordan Leasure in the bottom of the 10th to give the A’s a 3-2 win over the White Sox on Sunday.
The White Sox took a 2-1 lead in the top of the 10th, but it wasn’t enough. The homer was Urias’s fourth in just 46 plate appearances this season. He’s taken over as the Athletics’ second baseman since Max Muncy was sent down, and while his defense is an issue there, his bat deserves to be in the lineup; he’s hitting .275/.348/.575.
Osvaldo Bido
ATH •
Osvaldo Bido pitched 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball Sunday against the White Sox.
Joshua Palacios homered to start the game, but that was the lone run the A’s surrendered through nine innings. Bido was effective despite striking out just one. He’s totaled three strikeouts over 16 innings in his last three starts, compared to 14 in 15 innings in his first three. That he’s been successful in two of these recent outings anyway was undoubtedly influenced by the competition — two starts against the White Sox will help anyone’s overall line. He has another rather easy matchup coming up against the Marlins, making him a decent streaming option.
Josh Jung
TEX • 3B

Josh Jung was removed from Sunday’s game against the Giants due to a lacerated right index finger.
Jung reportedly sustained the injury on a swing in which he shattered his bat, then he appeared to open the wound further while making a bare-handed play in the field. It doesn’t seem like the type of injury that should lead to an extended absence, but with Jung you can never be too sure. Expect the Rangers to provide an update on his status after the game.

Jose Barrero

Francys Romero reports that the Cardinals plan to promote Jose Barrero from Triple-A Memphis on Monday.
Katie Woo of The Athletic confirms the report and adds that Thomas Saggese will be optioned out to create the spot on the team’s active roster. Barrero has been swinging a hot bat at the Triple-A level, slashing .299/.396/.517 with four homers, 13 RBI and five swipes through his first 23 ballgames. He’s unlikely to see enough playing time to gain relevancy from a fantasy perspective.

Nick Lodolo
CIN •
Nick Lodolo limited the Rockies to two hits over seven scoreless innings in the Reds’ 8-1 victory Sunday.
Lodolo had a no-hitter going until Jordan Beck was credited with an infield single in the bottom of the sixth. Elly De La Cruz made the tough play initially, but his throw pulled Spencer Steer off the bag. The other hit in the seventh was a roller down the third base line that Noelvi Marte hoped would go foul but wound up hitting the bag. The Reds probably didn’t mind, though, as they weren’t going to want Lodolo throwing the 110+ pitches it likely would have taken to complete a no-hitter. He struck out nine and walked one on the day. Lodolo is 3-2 with a 2.25 ERA, and he should remain one of the NL’s top lefties for as long as his body holds up. He’ll face the Nationals next.
Bradley Blalock
COL •
Filling in for Ryan Feltner, Bradley Blalock was tagged for six runs in four-plus innings by the Reds on Sunday.
Blalock, who struck out just one, was charged with three runs in the first and three more in the fifth, when he failed to retire a batter. Blalock should return to Triple-A after this.
Noelvi Marte
CIN • PR-3B
Noelvi Marte finished 3-for-5 with three RBI and two steals against the Rockies on Sunday.
If Marte is still unrostered in your league, it’s something that needs to change right away. He’s 15-for-38 with three homers, 15 RBI and three steals in nine games since being recalled for the second time.
Jeimer Candelario
CIN • 3B
Starting for the first time in three games, Jeimer Candelario went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts against the Rockies on Sunday.
The Reds probably can’t release Candelario when he’s not even halfway through his three-year, $45 million contract, but he was bad last year and he’s been considerably worse while opening this season 9-for-80 with 29 strikeouts. He might lose even more playing time when Tyler Stephenson is activated, since Stephenson will likely DH at least once or twice per week.
Christian Yelich
MIL • DH
Christian Yelich went 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBI, a run scored, and a steal in a 7-1 win over the Cardinals on Sunday.
The steal was his sixth of the season, and he’s now up to 23 RBI as well. The batting average is a little low, but Yelich looks healthy, and the hits should start to fall with more regularity in the weeks ahead.
Lars Nootbaar
STL • LF
Lars Nootbaar went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in a loss to the Brewers on Sunday.
The Cardinals’ offense has struggled a bit of late, but Nootbaar continues to perform and is slashing .272/.409/.427 on the season. The power hasn’t quite come with the consistency that many were hoping for, but he has been a great value for anybody who took him in drafts.
Jose Quintana
MIL •
Jose Quintana allowed one run on five hits in five innings in a win over the Cardinals on Sunday.
The left-hander struck out six and walked three on the day, while posting a 21 percent whiff rate and 28 percent CSW. Quintana has done this regularly throughout his career. He may not have overpowering stuff, but he knows how to pitch, and when his command is on, he’s going to have stretches of solid production. However, he is a really risky play next week against the Cubs.
Erick Fedde
STL •
Erick Fedde allowed seven run on 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Brewers on Sunday.
The veteran struck out four, walked two, and allowed an average exit velocity of 93.4 mph on the day. He now sports a 4.68 ERA and is not a recommended play against the Mets next week.
