Clement had 12 homers in 2024 and nine last season, but it took him 30 games to get one this year. Of course, that’s not an issue while he’s batting .301. The homer, though, turned out to be his lone hit in the series against Boston, as he finished 1-for-11 with two walks. He was working on a 10-game hitting streak going into the series.

Clement has started all 27 games for the Blue Jays this season and has hit first or second in eight straight. The move up the order coincided with George Springer’s trip to the injured list, so there’s no guarantee it lasts. The 2025 postseason hero has become the team’s everyday second baseman while still mixing in reps at shortstop and third base.

Clement got his three hits without the benefit of a hard-hit ball. He’s second in the majors with 32 hits this season, and he was tied for 99th with 28 hard-hit balls coming into the day, with a couple of more guys probably passing him this afternoon.

It’s the first three-hit game for Clement, and he’s picked up four multi-hit games thus far in the month of April. The 30-year-old is hitting .311, but with little power as seen in a .393 slugging percentage.

The Jays have finished the spring with either Clement of Nathan Lukes hitting in that second spot in the order between George Springer and Vladimir Guerrero Jr., which could be indicative of how they’ll line up once the regular season begins. Those lineups have had Daulton Varsho batting in the sixth slot with Kazuma Okamoto batting seventh.

Clement has been hitting leadoff so far this spring, but we assume that’s because George Springer isn’t yet playing. Clement would be fine at the top of the lineup against lefties, but he hit just .254/.295/.327 versus righties last year. The Jays are set to treat him as a full-timer at second base this year, but it will be interesting to see if they need to go look for an upgrade against righties at some point.

The playoff superstar was tremendous for the Blue Jays in 2025, hitting .277/.313/.398 with nine home runs and six steals in 157 games while playing all over the field. With the team signing Kazuma Okamoto, Clement is the favorite to begin the year at second base in 2026.

Clement opened the scoring in the ballgame as he swatted a first-pitch curveball from Max Fried for a 354-foot (94.1 mph EV) two-run blast in the second inning. He then added an RBI single during a three-run uprising in the third inning that made it a 5-0 ballgame. Clement singled in the sixth inning as well, finishing the day 3-for-4.

Both hits were grounders. The double was pretty well struck down the left field line, while the single was just a little roller that Gunnar Henderson couldn’t make a do-or-die play on. Clement’s double was his 30th of the season. That matches his career total in 816 plate appearances coming into the year.

Clement is one tough customer. He’s back at third base and batting sixth on Sunday afternoon following just a three-game absence recovering from a fracture in his left middle finger in addition to needing stitches after being spiked in the shin earlier this week.

Clement will sit out his third straight game after suffering a fracture in his left middle finger in addition to needing stitches after being spiked in the shin earlier this week. It sounds like he’s going to avoid a trip to the injured list, but will need a few extra days off.

Clement is dealing with a broken bone in his left middle finger and also got spiked in the shin during Tuesday’s game. The 29-year-old will recover on the bench while Addison Barger handles third base.

Clement is available off the bench after receiving stitches in his leg after getting spiked during Tuesday’s contest. He’s also dealing with a broken bone in his left middle finger, according to Blue Jays manager John Schneider. It’ll be Addison Barger filling in at the hot corner with Davis Schneider getting into the lineup on Wednesday night.

Clement has four homers in five games after hitting just five in his first 115 contests. He seemed likely to lose playing time against righties with Andrés Giménez back, but that’s certainly not going to happen until he cools off some; he’s hitting .405/.421/.838 with seven RBI in his last eight games. The homer tonight off Javier Assad was his third versus a right-hander. He’s hit .260/.295/.336 against them, compared to .345/.376/.583 versus lefties.

It’s the first career five-hit game for Clement, who raised his average to .289. He had been hitting just .224/.272/.291 in his previous 35 games, and he’s in danger of losing some playing time when Andrés Giménez returns, so this will help.

The Blue Jays had been shut out by Reese Olson through the first five innings, but they found their stroke in the sixth. There, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. smacked a run-scoring double that tied the game and then with two outs the Tigers walked Addison Barger intentionally to face Clement. He made them pay, clobbering a 1-0 changeup for a 396-foot go-ahead three-run blast. Clement also singled in the ballgame and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning, finishing the night 2-for-4. On the season, he’s now slashing .284/.321/.392 with five long balls, 31 RBI and three swipes in 373 plate appearances.

Clement has been terrific against lefties this season, which is why he was leading off against Carlos Rodón tonight, but he’s not really hitting anyone at the moment. He should be in line to play far less against righties if the Jays ever have their offense completely healthy.

Four straight two-hit games have elevated Clement’s average to .310. He was at .271 two weeks ago, but he’s since gone 22-for-45, albeit with just two RBI. His steal tonight was his third success in six attempts.

Quietly, Clement has had a great season and has been scorching hot in June, going 28-for-74. That has come with just six extra base hits, one home run, and no steals in 19 games, which highlights a bit of the downside to his game from a fantasy perspective. The batting average will be there, and the runs will be too when Toronto is hot, but Clement won’t help you much in the other categories. Still, he could be a valuable piece depending on your team’s needs.

Clement drew the start at shortstop on Sunday with Bo Bichette as the DH. The 29-year-old third baseman hit .306/.349/.469 in May and is off to a .340/.353/.500 start in June. Clement’s fantasy utility is strictly limited to AL-Only leagues and deeper mixed formats due to his lack of power. He’s hitting .292 with a .742 OPS on the year.

Clement was back at third base following an early exit from Wednesday’s contest with the Cardinals with a lower-body injury. It doesn’t appear to be a serious concern moving forward.

In honor of the Stanley Cup playoffs, Toronto is using hockey terminology to classify Clement’s ailment following an early exit from Wednesday’s game against the Cardinals. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern, but fantasy managers should keep an eye on his status heading into Friday’s series opener against the Phillies.

Clement was hurt while trying to make a diving play in the eighth, but it seemed like he just had the wind knocked out of him. He remained in to finish the inning, but he was then lifted for defense in the ninth, which is not something that would typically happen. If there was something beyond getting the wind knocked out of him, it might have been an issue with his left knee, which hit the ground pretty hard.

Seven hits and two homers in two days have taken Clement’s OPS from .601 to .697. It seemed likely that he’d take a seat against right-handers once Andrés Giménez came off the IL, but he’s suddenly making a case to remain a full-timer. Still, Addison Barger would seem to deserve to remain at third against righties; he also homered and he walked twice tonight, taking his OPS up to .785. The Jays will probably go to Clement at third and Barger at DH at times while Anthony Santander is on the IL. They can also play Barger in the outfield.

Clement opened the scoring in the contest with a 383-foot (97.1 mph EV) three-run shot off of Jacob Lopez. He then came to the plate against Anthony Maldonado later in the same inning and added on a two-run double that extended the Jays’ lead to 8-0. With his three-hit attack, the 29-year-old infielder is now slashing .256/.301/.344 with two homers, 16 RBI and two stolen bases through his first 176 plate appearances on the season.

Clement needed that. The 29-year-old has been a regular starter at third base but has really struggled to start the year and is slashing just .194/.268/.250 on the season. He also now has one steal, but he will run if he can continue to get on base.
