The 25-year-old is hitting just .232/.259/.464 in July with four home runs, 13 RBI, and a 15/1 K/BB ratio. With no clear spot for him at the big league level, you have to wonder if the Reds would be willing to trade Encarnacion-Strand at the deadline to land a player like Luis Robert Jr. or other outfielders they have been linked to.

This certainly qualifies as an unexpected surprise. Encarnacion-Strand has barely played for Cincinnati over the last week with Noelvi Marte emerging as the club’s starting third baseman and Spencer Steer occupying first base. The 25-year-old former top prospect is hitting just .208/.234/.377 with six homers and 19 RBI across 137 plate appearances over 36 games. The logical explanation here is that the Reds would rather have him playing everyday at the Triple-A level instead of languishing on the bench.

The Reds were down 3-0 in the seventh when CES hit his sixth homer of the year with the bases loaded against Greg Weissert. The no-doubter left his bat at 109.1 mph and was projected at 439 feet. Encarnacion-Strand wasn’t even supposed to play tonight; he hurt his foot during the completion of last night’s suspended game this afternoon, but he was needed after Spencer Steer was scratched. The big game is very well timed for him, as the Reds infield is close to getting quite a bit more crowded with Noelvi Marte’s expected return from the IL.

Encarnacion-Strand will get Wednesday’s nightcap off to rest and recover after fouling a ball off the top of his foot during the opening contest. He’ll presumably undergo further evaluation and possibly additional testing to determine the severity of the issue. There should be an update on his status heading into Friday’s series opener against the Phillies.

It looked like this one would go to the Bombers before Encarnacion-Strand suddenly tied things up with a bases-loaded double in the seventh. The Reds made room for both CES and Santiago Espinal tonight by giving Spencer Steer just his fifth start in the outfield this season, but that’s probably not going to turn into a regular thing with Austin Hays set to return soon. The start tonight was Encarnacion-Strand’s second in five games.

Encarnacion-Strand, who is hitting .262 (11-for-42) with three homers and seven RBI in 11 games since returning from the injured list earlier this month, has begun to cede playing time to Spencer Steer at the cold corner with Santiago Espinal getting additional run at third base. He’s gone ice-cold since homering in three straight games after returning from the injured list back on June 6.

It’s the third time in the team’s past six ballgames that the 25-year-old slugger has found himself riding the pine. Spencer Steer will once again function as the team’s first baseman and will bat fifth against Cardinals’ right-hander Andre Pallante on Friday evening in St. Louis.

Encarnacion-Strand has progressively moved lower in the batting order since his return from the IL. He got off to a tremendous start in his first weekend back, but has gone just 3-for-25 since then. With Jeimer Candelario also nearing his return from the IL, Encarnacion-Strand is going to need to turn it around soon before he risks losing more playing time.

Encarnacion-Strand takes a seat with righty Bailey Ober on the hill for Minnesota as he’s gone into a slide at the dish over the past week, going 3-for-25 with nine strikeouts, following a stretch where he homered in three consecutive contests after coming back from the injured list. It’ll be veteran infielder Santiago Espinal at the hot corner on Wednesday night in his place.

It looks to be just a routine day off for the 25-year-old first baseman who has slashed an impressive .310/.344/.655 with three homers and seven RBI in seven games since returning from the injured list. Spencer Steer will start in his place at first base and will bat sixth for the Reds against Jack Flaherty and the Tigers on Saturday.

Encarnacion-Strand’s home run was his fifth of the year. His solo shot in the fourth inning off Zac Gallen got the Reds on the board. Injuries have limited Encarnacion-Strand to 18 games this year, but he’s hit a home run in three straight games since retuning from the injured list. Encarnacion-Strand should be rostered in all formats going forward given his immense power upside.

Encarnacion-Strand homered for the second straight game since his return from the injured list. This time, taking Ryne Nelson deep for a three-run shot in the first inning to put the Reds on top early against the Diamondbacks. Finally healthy, the 25-year-old slugger has excellent power upside if given consistent playing time and should be added in most mixed leagues.

Encarnacion-Strand’s homer came in the sixth inning last night, tying the game at three before play was halted. After play resumed today, the game remained scoreless until the bottom of the 10th, when CES’s liner to center plated the automatic runner. It’s a great first game back for Encarnacion-Strand, who missed seven weeks with back inflammation. He’s not promised regular playing time, but he should get if he hits, and he offers significant mixed-league upside.

Encarnacion-Strand is back after after missing six weeks with lower back inflammation. The 25-year-old was struggling prior to the injury, but possesses tremendous power in his right-handed bat and plays in a friendly home ballpark to help that play up. He’s a high-risk, high-reward option in redraft leagues.

CES has gone 11-for-32 with two home runs, six RBI and a 7/5 K/BB ratio in nine games at Triple-A. Interestingly, he started this game at third base, which was his first start at any position other than first base since beginning his rehab assignment. He could be nearing his return to the big leagues and might be worth another chance in deeper fantasy leagues given his offensive upside.

Encarnacion-Strand is hitting .346 with two homers through eight rehab games at the Triple-A level. The 25-year-old slugger figures to get a couple additional games under his belt before the Reds bring him back to the big leagues.

Encarnacion-Strand had three hard-hit balls in the game, and he’s 3-for-12 with just one strikeout on his rehab assignment. The Reds would seem to have plenty of at-bats available for him if they choose to activate him, though since he wasn’t very good before getting hurt, he might be on a short leash.

Encarnacion-Strand has been on the shelf since mid-April due to lower back inflammation, but he appears to be getting close to making it back to Cincinnati’s lineup. The 25-year-old slugger has two extra-base hits in three games at the Triple-A level as he continues his rehab assignment.

Now we have a bit more clarity on why Encarnacion-Strand is out of the lineup on Thursday. He didn’t seem to suffer any injury in Wednesday night’s game, but Encarnacion-Strand is also hitting just .158/.183/.298 in 60 plate appearances this season, so perhaps the Reds can use this time as a bit of a reset. Noelvi Marte was called up to take his place, but this should mean more playing time at first base for Jeimer Candelario, but Santiago Espinal has also been taking reps at first base in practice and could get some extra starts.

Encarnacion-Strand started Wednesday night and drove in two runs on a double; however, he will now shift to the bench with Jeimer Candelario entering the lineup at first base and batting sixth. Now that Austin Hays is back from the IL, the Reds have shifted Gavin Lux back into the infield, which means Lux, Candelario, and Encarnacion-Strand will likely have to rotate playing time in the immediate future.

The Mariners had stretched out a five-run lead and seemed to be cruising before the Reds and Encarnacion-Strand made it interesting in the seventh inning with a little rally. That was a big hit for Encarnacion-Strand too as he was trapped in an 0-for-14 skid in what’s been a disastrous season so far. He’s only a part-time player at the moment, starting just three of the Reds’ last five games and shouldn’t be on any fantasy radars unless his playing time picks up again.

It’s good that Marte is playing after spring his first three games on the bench. It seems odd to have Encarnacion-Strand on the bench against a lefty, but he actually has hit righties better to date in his major league career, even if it’s probably a fluke. Encarnacion-Strand is in a 4-for-41 slump after going 4-for-8 in his first two games of the season. Of course, the entire Reds team is hitting .203 right now. Their only healthy players with .700 OPSs this season are their two catchers: Jose Trevino (.773) and Austin Wynns (.879 in 12 PA).
