Freeman had a solid .281/.354/.361 line over 110 games in his first season in Colorado, but his outfield defense was enough of a problem to turn him into more of a DH as the season went along. We’re not hearing that it’s the plan, but it’d make sense for the Rockies to give him a look back at second base this season. He’s probably the team’s best option in the leadoff spot, and he could offer some mixed-league value if he’s an everyday guy, though that’s in considerable doubt at the moment.

Freeman winds up missing the final week of the regular season with a lingering back issue. The 26-year-old center fielder should have a normal offseason and be a full-go for spring training.

It’s frankly a bit surprising the Rockies haven’t placed Freeman on the injured list since he hasn’t played in nearly one week at this juncture due to a back issue. It appears unlikely he’ll return at any point this weekend with Colorado further away from playoff contention than Blockbuster is from replacing Netflix.

It doesn’t appear that the Rockies are going to send Freeman to the injured list with two games left in the regular season, but he’s been out for nearly a week at this juncture due to a lingering back issue.

There’s little incentive for the last-place Rockies to rush Freeman back as he deals with a lower back ailment. The 26-year-old is presumably day-to-day heading into the final handful of regular-season games.

Freeman has been performing in a super utility role for the Rockies and has settled into the leadoff spot in their lineup. He’ll get a breather in this one though. Orlando Arcia will draw a start at second base and bat ninth for the Rockies against Cubs’ right-hander Cade Horton while Mickey Moniak slides up to the leadoff spot in the lineup.

Freeman came back to haunt his former club with a pair of clutch hits during his return to Progressive Field. The 26-year-old outfielder opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the third inning before adding a run-scoring singles in the fifth. He capped off the strong effort with a go-ahead hit against reliever Cade Smith in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rockies ahead for good.

Freeman is back at DH and leading off following a two-game absence due to illness. The 26-year-old outfielder shouldn’t require any additional time off. He’s been one of the few bright spots this season for the Rockies, who have endured an abysmal campaign overall.

Mickey Moniak is in right field on Monday night with Freeman taking a seat for the second straight contest as he continues to battle an ongoing illness. He’s presumably day-to-day for now.

Freeman should be ready to return in a couple days, if not sooner. It’ll be rookie Yanquiel Fernández taking over in right field on Sunday in his absence.

Freeman is back atop Colorado’s lineup on Monday night at historic Fenway Park following a brief one-game absence due to right hamstring soreness. The 26-year-old outfielder told reporters over the weekend that he’s been dealing with the issue for a while at this juncture, so fantasy managers shouldn’t anticipate him missing a ton of additional time, if any, leading into the All-Star break.

There’s zero incentive for the Rockies to push things with just a handful of games left before the All-Star break. It’ll be rookie Yanquiel Fernández taking over in right field on Sunday in his place. Freeman has been one of the few bright spots of late in an otherwise dismal year for Colorado, emerging as a decent option for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues over the last few weeks, hitting .392 (38-for-97) with one homer and nine steals over his last 30 games. He’s presumably day-to-day heading into Monday’s series opener against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Because he plays for the worst team in baseball, Freeman hasn’t gotten enough attention for how good he’s been in his first year with the Rockies. The 26-year-old has his second three-hit game in the month of July, and is now slashing .338/.422/.456. He’s also added 12 stolen bases, so the only thing to complain about here is the lack of power. If he keeps hitting at a semblance of this average, it won’t matter as much.

Rockies interim manager Warren Schaeffer was also ejected from the third inning of Sunday’s contest against Milwaukee. Freeman finished 0-for-1 with a walk.

He’s the second player to get plunked three times in a game this season, joining CJ Abrams, and the first ever Rockie to do so. Freeman’s OBP jumped from .379 to .410 tonight. Alas, he scored just once, had no RBI and was caught on his one steal attempt.

Freeman is at DH and batting second for the second straight contest on Monday night at Nationals Park. The versatile 26-year-old could be worthy of a speculative roster spot in deeper mixed leagues, if he’s able to remain near the top of Colorado’s lineup for the remainder of the year. He’s been on a roll lately, hitting .381 (16-for-42) with one homer and two steals over his last 15 games.

Just us thinking about how the Rockies were leaving Freeman on the bench two-thirds of the time so that they could play Nick Martini and Kyle Farmer. At least he’s playing now, and he’s opened June 11-for-23 with five extra-base hits and no strikeouts in seven games, putting him at .306/.366/.468 on the season.

Treated as a platoon guy recently, Freeman had made just one other start against a righty since coming off the IL on May 16. Oddly enough, in the 13 games before he got hurt in April, he started four times in nine games against righties and none of the four times the Rockies faced lefties. Throughout all of it, it’s become clear that the late March trade with the Guardians was less about acquiring Freeman and more about moving on from Nolan Jones. We’re not sure Freeman is a regular, either, but he is more interesting than most of the guys on Colorado’s roster. Perhaps the showing today will earn him some extra time for a bit.

Freeman got the start in right field on Tuesday and collected three hits against the Phillies for his first multi-hit game of the season. He knocked a single in the second, then brought a run in to score with a base hit in the fourth. Freeman later doubled in the seventh and scored on a base hit by Adael Amador. The 25-year-old outfielder is 5-for-21 with three steals and six runs scored in limited playing time.

Freeman had been sidelined since early April due to a left oblique strain. Before landing on the injured list he was hitting just .091 (1-for-11) with a 3/2 K/BB ratio over his first seven games with the Rockies. Freeman is not in the Rockies’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against the Diamondbacks.

Freeman hits the injured list after suffering an oblique strain during batting practice prior to Saturday’s game against the Padres. No word yet on the severity of the injury, which will determine how much time he misses. It’ll probably be a couple weeks, even in a best-case scenario.

Freeman was slated to start in center field on Saturday night but got hurt during pre-game batting practice. MLB.com’s Thomas Harding adds that top prospect Adael Amador could be recalled if it’s serious enough to require a trip to the injured list.
