Happ provided all the offense for the Cubs in Saturday’s win, starting with a leadoff homer in the second inning. After walking the third, he added a double in the sixth and tripled to lead off the eighth before scoring the team’s second run. He fell a single short of the cycle. The 31-year-old outfielder is hitting .246/.373/.517 with eight homers, 23 runs scored, and 15 RBI across 142 plate appearances.

Happ returned to the heart of Chicago’s batting order after a brief two-game absence due to a left heel contusion. The 31-year-old left fielder has delivered top-30 fantasy value in the early portion of the season, hitting .233 (10-for-43) with four homers and seven RBI through 11 contests.

Happ is available off the bench but remains out of Chicago’s lineup for the second consecutive contest while dealing with a bruised left heel. It doesn’t sound like a massive concern. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Michael Conforto takes over left field in his absence.

Happ lost a surefire homer to the wind blowing in at Wrigley Field during last week’s season opener, according to Statcast, but this time the wind worked in his favor, carrying a third-inning fly ball into the left-field seats. It was his third big fly of the season. The switch-hitting left fielder should continue to benefit from hitting in the heart of a Cubs lineup that continues to look extremely formidable in the early stages of the year.

It’s the farthest any ball has been pushed by the wind in the three years that Weather Applied has been tracking such things. Happ’s ninth-inning fly off the Nationals’ Cionel Pérez would have been projected at 435 feet under neutral conditions, but with about 30 mph of wind working against it, James Wood caught in shy of the warning track.

Happ’s homer was the second of the season, and it came in the third inning off Chad Patrick. The outfielder’s roundtripper came right after an Alex Bregman homer, and the two will likely be hitting near each other to open the regular season. Happ will once again be a solid — if flawed — fantasy option in 2026, because that’s what he’s been for seemingly the last 40 years.

It looks like the Cubs are going to go with Michael Busch, Alex Bergman and then Happ at the top of their lineup, which is pretty good news for Happ. After he was initially replaced in the leadoff spot last year, Happ sometimes hit as low as sixth and seventh. That could wind up happening again if some guys behind him get hot, but Happ’s steadiness is appreciated; he has a career 116 OPS+ and has been at 117, 118, 120 and 120 the last four years.

Happ snapped out of a prolonged postseason slump with a no-doubter to right field against Brewers ace Freddy Peralta with two outs in the opening frame to give the Cubs an early advantage. He had been 4-for-36 against Peralta in his career prior to the round-tripper. It was one of the biggest moments of his career and set the tone for a potential series-turning victory as Chicago forces a winner-take-all Game 5 showdown on Saturday in Milwaukee after dropping the first two contests of the best-of-five series.

With the win, the Cubs have clinched a postseason berth. Happ smashed a two-run homer in the first off Johan Oviedo, and added an RBI single in the sixth off Duari Moreta. Happ has swung the bat exceptionally well as of late, and improved his slash to .243/.347/.426 with 23 homers and 73 runs driven in.

Happ crushed a 356-foot (100.0 mph EV) solo shot off of Adrian Houser in the sixth inning that pulled the Cubs to within a run at 3-2. He also singled in the fourth inning but wound up being cut down at home on a double play. The 31year-old outfielder is now slashing .242/.344/.422 with 22 homers, 69 RBI and six stolen bases on the season.

Happ smacked a game-tying RBI single off of Shane Baz to cap off a three-run rally in the second inning. He then walloped a 370-foot (105.5 mph EV) solo shot off of Edwin Uceta in the fourth inning that increased the Cubs’ lead to 6-4. He also doubled off of Griffin Jax in the sixth inning. With his three-hit afternoon, Happ is now hitting .241/.342/.418 with 21 long balls and 68 RBI on the season.

Happ singled off of Spencer Strider in the first inning. He then lined a one-out double to center in the third and raced around to score on a run-scoring single by Pete-Crow Armstrong. With his two-hit attack, Happ is slashing .238/.340/.410 with 20 homers, 66 RBI and six stolen bases over 589 plate appearances on the season.

Happ’s only hit was a homer — not that anyone is complaining — but he was able to reach three more times via free pass. The 31-year-old has 20 homers in 2025, and that’s the third-straight year he’s reached that mark. Happ isn’t ever going to hit for a high average and he’s not a real stolen-base threat, but he does just enough with the pop to make him a serviceable fantasy player.

Happ delivered an RBI single off of Joey Wentz in the third inning that extended the Cubs’ early lead to 4-0. That run would prove to be the difference in the ballgame. The 31-year-old outfielder is having a disappointing season at the dish, slashing just .238/.336/.409 with 19 homers, 65 RBI and six stolen bases. His .745 OPS currently ranks as the worst in his nine-year career.

Happ’s combo meal gives him 19 homers on the season and six stolen bases. The 31-year-old has been solid in August with four homers and an OPS of .835 over 89 at-bats.

Happ and the Cubs beat up on Germán Márquez and Antonio Senzatela because of course they did. The 31-year-old has 25 doubles, and the homer was the 17th of the 2025 season. Happ’s overall slash still leaves something to be desired at .231/.331/.393.

It was a tough crowd at Wrigley today. Happ, who already had an RBI single and a walk in the game, was booed pretty good when he struck out with the go-ahead run on third for the second out of the sixth. Happ then got another chance in the eighth and hit what would have been a go-ahead double, except it bounced over the fence to keep Carson Kelly from scoring. Fortunately, Dansby Swanson came though with a sac fly afterwards. Happ is having a down year, and there’s obviously a contingent of fans who thinks one of the Cubs’ kids might be an upgrade. We’re pretty skeptical, though. Statcast says Happ has been very unlucky — he entered the day with a .383 slugging percentage but an xSLG of .444 — yet he still has a 107 OPS+ anyway. He’s still the same above-average regular he’s been for years.

As a team, the Cubs were only able to muster seven hits in the ballgame — all of them singles — with Happ the only member of the team to collect more than one. The 30-year-old outfielder has had a decent season overall at the plate, slashing just .232/.326/.396 with 16 homers, 54 RBI and five stolen bases.

Pretty good for a guy who the Cubs’ own network said was going on the injured list today. The team, though, decided to DFA Vidal Bruján and keep Happ, who is dealing with a shin contusion, on the roster with Moisés Ballesteros coming up. Happ figures to be back in the starting lineup on Friday.

Happ seemed to think he was just day-to-day after the injury, but the Cubs are going to see if maybe Ballesteros can give them a lift. He’ll likely serve as the primary DH while Seiya Suzuki patrols left field in Happ’s absence.

Happ was pulled from the late stages of Tuesday’s critical showdown against the sizzling-hot Brewers after fouling a ball off his left shin. It doesn’t sound like he’s dealing with anything significant based on initial imagine. There should be an update regarding his availability ahead of Wednesday’s series finale. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.

Happ was unable to complete his eighth-inning at-bat and will presumably head for X-rays to determine whether he fractured anything. It’s worth noting that Chicago was trailing by six runs at the time of his departure, so his early exit may wind up being out of an abundance of caution. He finished 1-for-3 at the dish. There should be an update on his status following the contest.

It’s just Happ’s second homer and second multihit game in a month. His fantasy value dropped with the move out of the leadoff spot just before the deadline, but he should still have something to offer in the second half.

Happ has been shifted to the lower third of Cubs manager Craig Counsell’s lineup card after taking a seat during Friday’s showdown with lefty Carlos Rodón on the hill. It’s notable that Nico Hoerner is leading off against another lefty in Max Fried. Happ has been ice-cold at the dish in recent weeks, batting .119 (7-for-59) with one homer and 17 strikeouts over his last 15 games. It’ll be interesting to see if he’s back in the leadoff spot for Sunday’s first-half finale when righty Will Warren takes the ball for New York.

Happ is 3-for-47 in his last 12 games, dropping his OPS from .762 to .696. He’s still taking his walks and he surely will break out of the slump. But at this point, it’s getting hard to argue the Cubs should keep him in the leadoff spot, which is where he has hit all year.

Happ set the tone in this one with a home run on the first pitch of the game off Erick Fedde. That opened the floodgates for what would turn into seven runs through the first four innings. Happ concluded that barrage as well with a two-run single in the fourth that effectively ended Fedde’s night. While never flashy, he’s been his usual solid and steady self this season with 12 home runs, 51 runs scored, 41 RBI, and a .763 OPS out of the lead-off spot for this high-powered Cubs’ lineup.

Happ stayed hot the plate on Saturday, leading off the bottom of the first inning with a solo homer off Emmerson Hancock. He did it again in the second, taking Hancock deep for a three-run blast. It was Happ’s third straight game with a home run. The 30-year-old outfielder is slashing .250/.343/.423 with 11 homers, 49 runs scored, 38 RBI, and four steals over 315 plate appearances.

Happ helped to get the scoring started for the Cubs as he worked a leadoff walk to begin the first inning, swiped second base and scored on a ground out off the bat of Seiya Suzuki. He then played the role of hero in the 10th, smacking a David Bednar offering into right field to plate Vidal Brujan from third base with the game-winning run. The 30-year-old outfielder is now hitting .249/.340/.385 with seven long balls, 31 RBI and four stolen bases on the season.
