Martinez got the Guardians off to a solid start with a solo blast off Matthew Liberatore. He’s homered twice to begin the 2026 season, and he’s slashing .319/.385/.511 over 15 games and 47 at-bats. You can do a lot worse than that, and you could do worse than giving Martinez a spot on a fantasy roster in most formats.

Martinez had one of four stolen bases for the Guardians on the night, and it gives him four on the year. The 24-year-old has really impresses over the first few weeks of the season, and the pair of knocks has his slash at .342/.419/.500. That’s not sustainable, but at 24, it wouldn’t be a surprise at all if Martinez had his breakout campaign in 2026.

Martinez had three of the four hardest-hit balls for the Guardians today with a 107. 8 mph single, a 107.5 mph double, and a 105.6 mph home run that traveled 374-feet. It was Martinez’s first home run and his first four RBIs of the season. The 24-year-old can play multiple positions on the field, and much of his production today came against right-handed relievers, so maybe the Guardians will give him some at-bats when left-handers are not on the mound.

The switch-hitting outfielder has been basically an everyday player for the Guardians so far this season, but he’ll take a seat in this one in favor of CJ Kayfus who will start in left field and bat ninth. Martinez is off to a 3-for-23 (.167) start with zero RBI and a 5/2 K/BB ratio.

Bastardo was taken by the Blue Jays in the Rule 5 draft, but he did not make the Opening Day roster, so he will be returned to the Red Sox. The 23-year-old pitched to a 5.36 ERA in 10 starts (45.1 innings) in Double-A last season.

Martinez, one of the AL’s worst players in hitting .224/.269/.359 in 484 plate appearances and playing below average outfield defense last season, is going to make the Guardians and might be in line for quite a bit of time initially with George Valera on the IL. He’s hit .350/.395/.850 this spring, with an average EV up about seven mph from last year’s mark of 97.1 mph. It might be a good sign, but he’s still only an option in deep AL-only leagues right now.

Martinez led off the top half of the first inning with a double off of Sean Burke and scored the game’s first run as Brayan Rocchio followed with a two-bagger of his own. Martinez then doubled off of Erick Fedde in the fifth but was cut down attempting to steal third. The versatile 24-year-old could start in center field if Chase DeLauter isn’t ready, otherwise he’ll open the season in a utility role for the Guardians which would sap him of any fantasy value in deeper leagues.

Martinez was 0-for-17 in his previous seven games and 3-for-39 in his previous 12 games. It seemed like he might lose some playing time with C.J. Kayfus up, particularly against righties, but he’s started in center field the last four days. The Guardians’ primary alternative there, Daniel Schneeman, doesn’t play against lefties and is still seeing time in the field against righties.

It’s a rare off day for Martínez, who has made 21 consecutive starts for Cleveland dating back to July 4. The 23-year-old has hit a minor speed bump recently, hitting .222 (6-for-27) with one RBI over his past seven games. It’ll be Daniel Schneeman taking over in center field and batting second on Tuesday night in his absence.

Martinez has been a hot bat atop the Guardians’ lineup lately. In his last 11 games, he has seven doubles, four home runs, nine runs scored, 11 RBI and a stolen base. Martinez is likely to cool off at the plate any day now, but it was a great stretch for fantasy managers in AL-Only leagues. He’s hitting .246 with a .677 OPS and 37 RBI this year.

Martinez went back-to-back with teammate Daniel Schneemann off of White Sox’ rookie right-hander Shane Smith in the second inning, with his 355-foot blast increasing the Guardians’ lead to 2-0. He also doubled off of Dan Altavilla, finishing the night 2-for-3. On the season, the versatile 23-year-old is now slashing .243/.269/.400 with eight long balls and 32 RBI.

Martinez gave the Guardians an early 1-0 lead with a solo homer off Brandon Walter in the first inning. The 23-year-old is slashing a less-than-desirable .238/.264/.381 in 2025, but there have been enough good moments — including seven homers — to suggest that he can be a useable fantasy option in the coming years.

The Guardians hit Astros’ ace Hunter Brown hard in this one, storming out to a 6-1 advantage through their first four innings. They gave that lead away though by the ninth and went to extra innings with the score tied at 6-6. That’s where Martinez victimized Astros’ closer Josh Hader for his 334-foot go-ahead blast that put the Guardians on top to stay. Martinez finished the night 1-for-4 plus a walk and is now hitting .238/.264/.371 with six homers and 30 RBI on the season.

Martinez brought in the only run of the game for the Guardians with a solo homer in the eighth inning off an otherwise excellent Jeffrey Springs. The 23-year-old has homered five time to complement a slash of .246/.265/.379 over 203 at-bats in 58 games.

The Dodgers brought in Alex Vesia to face Martínez in a 4-4 game in the eighth and surely wish now that they had had a righty ready instead. Martínez, a career .295 hitter against lefties, also doubled off Clayton Kershaw today. Martínez’s homer was his third in 145 plate appearances this season. He also had three in 169 plate appearances as a rookie last year. His performance overall has fallen short of making him a quality regular, but he’s starting most of the time for a Guardians team still trying to figure out which youngsters are going to step up.

The homer was a two-run shot off Aaron Nola. Martínez is batting .325/.337/.446 with three steals in 25 games. He’ll probably remain pretty strong in terms of average, but not quite .325 strong, and the power isn’t really there to make him a big factor in fantasy leagues. Stlll, he seems like an upgrade over Lane Thomas for the Guardians.
