Absent from the first injury report released by the Celtics, Brown is now doubtful due to lower back spasms. His absence would result in more prominent roles for Anfernee Simons and Baylor Scheierman, not to mention starters Derrick White and Payton Pritchard.

Poeltl has not appeared in a game since December 21, and it’s unknown when that will change. With that being the case, now is a good time to add Collin Murray-Boyles if he’s sitting on the waiver wire. Sandro Mamukelashvili is another suitable option, but he does not offer CMB’s ceiling in category leagues.

White brought a little extra against his former organization, finishing just shy of his fourth 30-point performance of the season. The 31-year-old guard provided his usual blend of scoring and defensive impact in this one, notching four stocks, while coming up just short of reaching double-digit rebounds for the first time this year. He’s been one of the hottest all-around players in the fantasy landscape of late, averaging an absurd 19.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.6 steals and 2.5 blocks in eight games over the past two weeks. The Celtics are in line for a three-game week that includes road showdowns against the Pacers, Heat and Hawks.

It’s not hyperbolic to suggest that Brown has morphed into a legitimate MVP candidate this season as he’s topped 25 points in 13 of 15 games since the start of December while propelling the Celtics towards the apex of the Eastern Conference without Jayson Tatum. The 29-year-old franchise cornerstone contributed 13 early points as the Celtics shot 61 percent from the floor in the opening half and wound up pulling away in the late stages. He got to the charity stripe a whopping 13 times and knocked down his final 12 attempts from the line. The Celtics have been one of the hottest teams in the Eastern Conference, winning 13 of their last 17 game. They’ll close out a back-to-back on Saturday evening when they host the Spurs at TG Garden.

Quickley has shouldered more of the offensive workload for the injury-plagued Raptors, who were without a trio of key contributors in this one with Scottie Barnes (knee), Brandon Ingram (thumb) and Jakob Poeltl (back) all on the shelf. They also lost RJ Barrett to an apparent left ankle injury during the late stages of the fourth quarter. The speedy 26-year-old guard dished out a season-high 13 helpers but it still wasn’t enough. He should see an uptick in creation opportunities and three-point attempts with Barnes, Ingram and Barret out of the mix, which provides a short-term boost to his fantasy appeal. The Raptors are back in action with back-to-back contests against the 76ers starting on Sunday night.

Pritchard showcases his signature skillset in this one, consistently driving to the basket and creating shot opportunities beyond the arc, parachuting in whenever the Celtics needed to create something out of nothing on a possession. The 27-year-old sharp-shooting facilitator dished out eight assists while scoring 16 of his 27 points in the second half to help Boston pull away for a relatively easy win. He’s been a phenomenal fantasy contributor over the past two weeks, averaging 17.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.3 blocks across seven games during that span.

The absence of several key contributors due to injuries should lead to increased touches and creation possessions for Walter moving forward, which provides an immediate boost to his fantasy profile. The 21-year-old lacks significant scoring upside on a consistent basis, but the opportunities are there on a short-term basis with RJ Barrett (ankle), Scottie Barnes (knee), Brandon Ingram (thumb) and Jakob Poeltl (back) all dealing with injuries. He’s worthy of a speculative roster spot in deeper fantasy leagues.

Hauser was feeling it in the early stages of the contest, hitting four three-pointers in the opening stanza as the Celtics built an early advantage. The 28-year-old sharpshooter doesn’t offer a ton of fantasy value as he’s prone to the typical ebbs and flows that a hot-and-cold three-point specialist typically deals with on a night-to-night basis. An early exit from Brandon Ingram (thumb) resulted in Barrett leading the way offensively for the Raptors. Simons continues to get more comfortable with his role in Boston, having scored in double figures in six straight and nine of his last ten games. Unfortunately for fantasy managers who have him rostered, this has not resulted in increased fantasy value. Over the past three weeks, Simons is still ranked outside the top-150 in eight- and nine-cat formats. Queta’s overall stat line was lean, except in one category: rebounds. Two days removed from grabbing 13 boards in a win over the Bulls, he tallied a career-high 20 against the Nuggets. Rostered in 37 percent of Yahoo! leagues, Queta has offered top-100 per-game value over the past two weeks. After a rough night in Monday’s win over the Bulls, Brown got back on track Wednesday night in terms of scoring. Since December 2, he’s tallied at least 30 points in 11 of the 14 games that he’s played. Add in the rebounds, assists and three-pointers, and the overall stat line recorded on Wednesday was excellent. However, Brown was responsible for seven turnovers, the most he’s had in a game since November 18 (eight vs. Brooklyn). Brown’s magnum opus featured an extremely efficient shooting performance as he knocked down 18-of-26 attempts, including 6-of-10 from beyond the arc, finishing at nearly 70 percent from the floor.
