With Brandon Clarke (knee) making his season debut, there may have been some concern among those who have held onto Landale. However, with Clarke under a minutes restriction, he played 30 minutes off the bench and finished with one of his best lines of the season. The double-double was the second of the season for Landale, who also recorded his third 20-point game. With Clarke’s playing time restricted and Zach Edey (ankle) unavailable, those who held onto Landale for this long might as well stick with him for a few more games.

Clarke made his season debut on Wednesday, and to the surprise of many, he did so as a starter. His first stint on the floor lasted just under four minutes, and the Grizzlies are likely to limit Clarke’s playing time for the foreseeable future. The question is whether he can play enough while Zach Edey (ankle) is out to become a viable option in deep leagues. Based on the playing time and production, Clarke isn’t there yet, but that could change in time.

With Ja Morant (ankle) unavailable, the Grizzlies decided to go big on Wednesday, with Brandon Clarke joining the starters. That may have opened some things up for Wells offensively, and the second-year wing extended his streak of double-digit scoring games to 10. Over the past two weeks, Wells has been a top-100 player in eight-cat formats, a significant improvement for a player ranked outside the top-200 for the season. Cedric Coward (13/5/3/1) continues to have superior season-long fantasy value, but the gap between him and Wells is shrinking.

After he went off for 31 points in Monday’s win over the Clippers, there were likely a lot of fantasy managers interested in seeing what Jackson would do for an encore. With Ja Morant (ankle) back on the sidelines, Trip recorded a complete stat line that included his first double-double of the season. Wells was solid on the offensive end on Monday, connecting on half of his shot attempts while getting some production from the free-throw line. Yet, his effort defending the Clippers’ James Harden all night long was impressive and significant in limiting the former MVP’s production — Wells’ counting stats won’t tell the full story of just how impactful he was in this game. JJJ did it all for Memphis on Monday. Outstanding shooting led him to his first 30-point outing of the season and helped him to finish as the Grizzlies’ leading scorer on the evening. A season-high 38 minutes allowed Filipowski to produce some of his best work of the season. In his minutes, efficient shooting both inside and outside the arc helped him set a new high in points on the season, which was only the third-most on the Mavs on Monday. While Coward’s final stat line lacked defensive stats, the rookie did record his second double-double in three games and fifth of the season. Given how well he began the season, most fantasy managers understood that Coward’s production would cool down eventually. With Ja Morant back in the fold, how the point guard rotation would shake out behind him was a point of interest for deep-league fantasy managers. Spencer played 25 minutes off the bench and enjoyed the best shooting night of his NBA career, as he made a career-high six three-pointers without a miss. Vince Williams Jr., who was the starter when Morant was out, played 15 minutes and went scoreless (0-of-4 FGs) with three rebounds and one blocked shot. Friday’s game was the first for Morant since November 15, so his playing time was restricted. However, that did not prevent the point guard from showing off his elite athleticism at various points, including an impressive chasedown block of a Keyonte George layup attempt during the first half. With Memphis playing Friday’s game without its best rebounder, Zach Edey, this was an excellent opportunity for Nurkić to put up a high number in the rebounds category. His 17 boards matched the veteran center’s season-high, and he finished with his sixth double-double. In his last three games entering Friday, Love totaled 18 points on 6-of-15 shooting from the field. Simply put, no one outside of the Jazz locker room expected the veteran forward to be as productive as he was in Memphis. Love recorded a season-high point total and matched his previous high in three-pointers. As fun as it was to watch him put on an offensive clinic while also grabbing eight rebounds, one game does not make Love a player worth rostering in most fantasy leagues. George was rolling during the first half of Friday’s game, scoring 27 points. While a combination of improved defending from the Grizzlies and foul trouble conspired to keep the guard scoreless in the third quarter, he would finish with a career-high 39 points. While Morant’s return from a strained calf is the most significant change to the Grizzlies’ starting lineup, it isn’t the only one. While Jock Landale has been the preferred choice in the past, Aldama will step in to fill the void left by the injured Zach Edey (ankle).
