Harper, who did not go on a rehab assignment, is back from a 3 1/2-week absence due to right wrist inflammation and playing first base and batting third tonight. Otto Kemp will get to stick around, as Buddy Kennedy was DFA’d to make room on the roster. Kemp, though, would seem to be in line for considerably less playing time. Maybe he’ll start in left field against lefties, which had been Weston Wilson’s old job before he was demoted.

Castellanos gave the Phillies a commanding four-run advantage with a fifth-inning solo shot against Padres knuckleballer Matt Waldron. The 33-year-old veteran corner outfielder has gone deep twice in his last four contests.

Wheeler authored a dominant performance on Monday night at Citizens Bank Park, limiting San Diego’s lineup to just six hits and one extra-base knock over eight stellar frames. The 35-year-old fantasy ace generated an eye-popping 19 swinging strikes, including nine on his fastball alone, to record his third double-digit strikeout performance of the year. He continues building a strong case to start the upcoming All-Star Game with a stellar 2.27 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 136/25 K/BB ratio across 107 innings (17 starts). He’ll face the Reds on Sunday in his next outing.

Painter made the National League’s roster for the annual prospect showcase, but will not pitch in the actual game itself. The 22-year-old is completely healthy, but will remain shut down during the All-Star break, in an effort to have him available at some point for Philadelphia’s second-half playoff push. He’s showcased top-of-the-rotation stuff this season at the Triple-A level, but the surface stats haven’t exactly backed it up, with a pedestrian 4.24 ERA and 45/18 K/BB ratio across 40 1/3 innings (nine starts). He projects as an immediate impact contributor for fantasy purposes once he arrives in the big leagues.

The double failed to produce any of the runs batted in; he had an RBI groundout in the fifth and then a two-run single an inning later. The single would have been gloved by Jazz Chisholm Jr. at third if it was just a mere regular hard-hit ball, but Guerrero smoked the grounder at 115.7 mph.

Pittsburgh has won four consecutive games by at least seven runs following Monday’s latest one-sided blowout. Horwitz was the primary catalyst in this one, kicking off the scoring with a first-inning solo shot — his second round-tripper of the season — against Cardinals starter Erick Fedde. He also tacked on a two-run double in the fifth inning as part of a six-run explosion for the Pirates red-hot offense.

It’ll be Pavin Smith taking over at the cold corner with Naylor on the bench for the third consecutive game due to neck spasms. The Diamondbacks aren’t in a position to take any chances with one of their key offensive cogs, so Naylor will get some extra time off to rest and recover until the lingering issue subsides. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.
