Nootbaar underwent surgery on both heels earlier this month to address bone enlargement near his Achilles tendons. Bloom added that the club will not rush his rehabilitation process but noted that if he does miss time at the outset of next season it would only be a brief absence. Fantasy managers should anticipate a clearer return timetable at the outset of spring training once he’s able to resume baseball activities.

Nootbaar has been a fixture in the Cardinals’ lineup over the past few weeks, so he has certainly earned a night off. Alec Burleson will move out to left field to cover for him while Nolan Gorman will draw a start at first base and bat sixth for the Cardinals against Brewers’ right-hander Chad Patrick.

Nootbaar had 11 hits in five games from Aug. 17-21, but he came into this one 0-for-18 in his previous five games. He hit the ball hard all four times up today, with his lone out being a 102.7-mph grounder. He should keep leading off until Brendan Donovan returns, at which point he’ll probably slide back into the middle of the lineup.

Nootbaar smacked a go-ahead RBI double off of Joe Boyle during a five-run uprising in the second inning and scored on an RBI single off the bat of Alec Burleson. He also singled in the fourth inning and was caught attempting to steal third base. On the season, the 27-year-old outfielder is hitting an underwhelming .244/.335/.395 with 13 long balls and 44 RBI in 448 plate appearances.

Nootbaar is 7-for-24 (.291) in six games since returning from the injured list with a rib injury. Nootbaar is hitting just .233 overall on the season, but still occupies the Cardinals’ lead-off spot against right-handed pitchers.

Nootbaar finished the at-bat and even played another couple of innings in the field before he was ultimately replaced by Jordan Walker when the Cardinals took the field in the sixth inning. He’ll probably head for additional evaluation and possibly imaging to determine exactly what’s going on there. Look for the Cardinals to provide an update on his status after the game.

Nootbaar went 1-for-5 on Saturday against the Padres in his return from the injured list following a three-week absence recovering from a left costochondral sprain — an injury where the rib meets the cartilage. The 27-year-old outfielder should continue playing regularly for St. Louis over the final two months, if he can stay on the field.

Nootbaar has been sidelined since the All-Star break with a left costochondral sprain — an injury where the rib meets the cartilage. The 27-year-old outfielder figures to make it back to St. Louis’ crowded outfield mix at some point in early August.

Nootbaar has been shelved since just before the All-Star break due to a left costochondral sprain. He’ll need at least a few games of live at-bats before he’ll be deemed ready to return to the Cardinals’ lineup. As long as he avoids any setbacks, it’s possible that return could come next weekend against the Padres.

Nootbaar heads to the injured list after exiting two of his last three games with left side discomfort. Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch adds that the 27-year-old outfielder has been diagnosed with a sprain where his left rib meets cartilage. It certainly sounds like he’ll require more than just a minimum stay on the injured list to resolve the issue.

Not great. Nootbaar has been battling through an intercostal/ribs issue for the past few weeks. The 27-year-old outfielder, who finished Saturday’s contest 0-for-2 at the plate, will presumably undergo further evaluation and imaging to determine the severity of the issue. It’s possible he’ll wind up requiring a trip to the injured list. There should be an update on his status ahead of Sunday’s first-half finale.

Nootbaar is back in left field and batting seventh on Tuesday night after missing a pair of contests due to intercostal soreness in the area of his ribs. The 27-year-old was just starting to really heat up last week, so we’ll see if he can get back on track following the brief two-game layoff.

Nootbaar has been dealing with some intercostal soreness in the area of his ribs for the past couple days and will open Monday’s contest on the bench for the second straight game. The 27-year-old outfielder was just starting to get into a groove at the plate, so the timing of the issue is frustrating for fantasy managers. It sounds like he’ll avoid a trip to the injured list for now, but that’s hardly a guarantee. It’ll be Brendan Donovan heading out to left field with rookie Thomas Saggese subbing into Monday’s lineup at second base.

With the Cubs starting left-hander Shota Imanaga, Nootbaar will not be in the starting lineup. This is now the third straight game against a lefty where Nootbaar has been on the bench. With Thomas Saggese now on the active roster, the Cardinals can start him at second base against lefties and move Brendan Donovan to left field. A strong side platoon role would further diminish Nootbaar’s fantasy value in a year that has not quite gone according to plans.

Nootbaar will open Wednesday night’s showdown on the bench with crafty southpaw Matthew Boyd toeing the rubber at Busch Stadium. The 27-year-old outfielder has been in a groove at the dish recently, hitting .280 (7-for-25) with three homers over his last seven games. It’ll be Brendan Donovan heading out to cover left field in this one with talented rookie Thomas Saggese getting a chance at the keystone.

All eight runs came on two-run homers off Ben Brown. Nootbaar hit the first of them, followed by Brendan Donovan, Alex Burleson and Nolan Gorman. Nootbaar might finally be pulling out of the slump that cost him the leadoff spot in the St. Louis lineup; he’s 6-for-19 with two homers in his last five games.

Nootbaar is back in the lineup after sitting out a pair of games over the weekend in an effort to reset mentally after going hitless (0-for-23) during his previous five contests. The 27-year-old has been shifted down to the seventh spot in St. Louis’ lineup with Brendan Donovan taking over the leadoff spot.

There’s a good chance it’s his last time hitting leadoff for a bit. Nootbaar is 0-for-14 with nine strikeouts in his last three games, and he’s batting .167 with 29 strikeouts in his last 18 games. He’ll pull out of it, but he should probably bat lower until it happens. We’d recommend sticking with him in mixed leagues.

Nootbaar takes a seat for the first time since May 23 after making 16 consecutive starts, hitting .194 (12-for-62) with one homer and 23 strikeouts during that span. It’ll be Masyn Winn moving back up to the leadoff spot with Brendan Donovan heading out to left field and Nolan Gorman covering second base. It’ll be interesting to see if Cardinals manager turns to Winn with greater frequency in the coming weeks since he’s hitting .302/.343/.429 with one homer and only six strikeouts over his last 15 games.

By the time Nootbaar’s double split the gap to plate Victor Scott II, the Cardinals were already down 11-0 and Alec Burleson was warming up to pitch. Still, Nootbaar continued his strong season where he has a .770 OPS, eight home runs, and four stolen bases as the Cardinals’ everyday lead-off hitter.

Noorbaar is 1-for-19 in his last five games, and he’s at .209/.267/.330 for the month of May. He’s been an everyday player this season, but he might start losing some starts versus lefties to Jose Barrero until he heats back up.

The Cardinals did all of their damage against the Nationals in the second inning on Saturday, brining in all four of their runs in the frame. Nootbaar drove in two on a double off Trevor Williams for his only hit in the game. The 27-year-old outfielder is having a solid season at the plate, slashing .243/.368/.401 with five homers, 25 runs scored, and four steals across 182 plate appearances.

The Cardinals’ offense has struggled a bit of late, but Nootbaar continues to perform and is slashing .272/.409/.427 on the season. The power hasn’t quite come with the consistency that many were hoping for, but he has been a great value for anybody who took him in drafts.

Nootbaar smacked a run-scoring single off of Tyler Alexander in the fifth inning that extended the Cardinals’ lead to 2-0 then came around to score on an RBI knock off the bat of Brendan Donovan. He also drew a walk to start the game on Friday, but was picked off of first base. He has done a nice job as a table-setter for the Cardinals this season, slashing .253/.393/.411 with four homers, 15 RBI and three stolen bases.
