It appears to be nothing more than a routine night off for the 23-year-old first baseman. Oswald Peraza will start in his place at the cold corner and will bat seventh against AJ Blubaugh and the Astros on Saturday evening in Los Angeles.

The 23-year-old first baseman had been sidelined since late August due to a left wrist contusion. He returns to a .266/.355/.383 slash line with 10 homers and 49 RBI in 535 plate appearances on the season. Logan Davidson was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move to clear a spot on the Halos’ active roster.

Schanuel should make it back to Los Angeles for the final week of the regular season after getting a couple rehab contests under his belt. The 23-year-old first baseman hit the injured list back in late August with a left wrist contusion.

Schanuel is hoping he can return from his left wrist contusion during this road trip, but it won’t occur this week against the Twins nor during the four-game series against Seattle. The Angels are nowhere near contention so they could scrap the whole thing as well, but it does appear Schanuel will be back before 2025 comes to a conclusion.

The positive news here is that Schanuel appears to have underwent additional imaging that didn’t reveal fractures or structural damage since he’s been diagnosed with merely a bruise. The 23-year-old first baseman will get some extra time off to rest and recover. He figures to return after a minimum stint on the injured list.

Schanuel is set to undergo further testing this weekend after injuring his left wrist during Saturday’s contest. There should be a definitive update regarding the 23-year-old’s status heading into Monday’s series opener against the Rangers. It’ll be Niko Kavadas at first base on Sunday afternoon in his absence.

Schanuel injured his wrist while making a diving play at first base during the second inning of Saturday’s battle against the Cubs. It sounds like it’s only a minor issue and shouldn’t lead to an extended absence, but be sure to check on his status on Sunday just to be on the safe side.

It’s unclear exactly when or how Schanuel sustained the injury, though he did miss a few days at the end of July with a left wrist contusion. Expect that he’ll head for further evaluation so the Halos can determine the severity of the issue. Fantasy managers should be sure to check back before Sunday’s series finale for an update on his status.

Schanuel has cooled down a bit in the second half after clubbing eight homers during an impressive first-half performance. The 23-year-old first baseman has been a viable corner infield option for fantasy managers, hitting .267 with 10 homers and five steals in 119 games this season.

With Casey Mize starting to lose it in the fifth inning, the 23-year-old first baseman crushed a high fastball into the right field seats for his 10th homer of the season. Schanuel has been a steady corner option in deeper formats despite the lack of power. He’s hitting .272 with a .754 OPS and 48 RBI on the year.

Schanuel picked up a homer off southpaw Hoby Milner in the eighth, but it came with the Angels trailing by five runs. It gives Schanuel nine homers on the season, and the 23-year-old has been solid in 2025 with a .277/.365/.403 slash. It’d be nice to see a few more balls leave the yard from a player at the first base position, at least from a fantasy perspective.

Schanuel is back at the cold corner and batting second following an early exit from Sunday’s game against the Phillies with a left wrist contusion. The 23-year-old appears to have dodged significant injury after he was hit by a pitch during the opening frame of Sunday’s showdown, which means fantasy managers can safely slot him into weekly lineups.

No word whether Schanuel underwent precautionary X-rays, but it appears he’s managed to avoid serious injury after being hit by a pitch during the first inning of Sunday’s series finale. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day heading into Monday’s contest against the Mets at Citi Field.

Schanuel left the contest in the opening frame shortly after being hit by an offering from Phillies starter Ranger Suárez during his first at-bat. The 23-year-old first baseman will presumably undergo further evaluation and testing to determine whether he suffered any fractures. There should be an update on his status shortly.

Schanuel also drew a walk to make it a four-reach day. The 23-year-old first baseman has driven in 40 runs over the Angels’ first 94 games, and he’s slashed a solid — if unspectacular — .278/.368/.405. The floor for Schanuel is high. The ceiling is very much a question mark.

The Halos will get Schanuel a breather with left-hander Patrick Corbin toeing the slab for the Rangers. LaMonte Wade Jr. will start in his place at first base and bat ninth for the Angels on Thursday evening in Los Angeles.

Schanuel laid off an offering from Hoby Milner with the ducks full to walk in a run and give the Angels the win. The 23-year-old has been so-so in 2025 for the Angels with a slash of .261/.354/.391, and he’s now driven in 36 runs over the first 90 games of the campaign. He helps the Angels a lot more than he helps fantasy teams.

Schanuel belted a two-out, 415-foot two-run shot off of Bryce Elder in the second inning that extended the Angels’ early lead to 3-0 and proved to be the difference in the ballgame. He also drew a walk in the ballgame, finishing the day 1-for-4. On the season, the 23-year-old first baseman is slashing a respectable .273/.366/.411 to go with eight long balls and 34 RBI.

It’s a rare off day for Schanuel, who is spared from having to face Red Sox ace Garrett Crochet, after going 0-for-5 with a pair of strikeouts during Monday’s series-opening win. He went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and four RBI during Sunday’s loss to the Astros. It’ll be LaMonte Wade Jr. taking over at first base with Gustavo Campero getting a turn in right field.

Schanuel demolished an 0-1 fastball from Ryan Gusto for a 390-foot (100.5 mph EV) three-run blast in the fifth inning that gave the Angels a 5-4 advantage. It would be short lived. Schanuel also chipped in a run-scoring single in the seventh inning that pulled the Halos to within two at 8-6. With his three-hit attack, the 23-year-old first baseman is now hitting a solid .283/.372/.412 with six long balls and 30 RBI on the season.

He then saved the tying run in the bottom of the inning after lunging off the bag at first to prevent an errant throw from Zach Neto allowing Aaron Judge to score. Schanuel also singled earlier in the contest. Because of his lack of power, he’s certainly not very exciting for fantasy purposes. However, with a .285/.377/.398 line in 287 plate appearances, he’s been a pretty solid regular for the Angels this season.

Schanuel’s home run was his fourth of the year. He hit a solo shot off Scott Blewett in the first inning. Schanuel is hitting .282 with a .770 OPS and 22 RBI on the year. He doesn’t have enough power or speed for shallow formats, but can be a useful bat in AL-Only and deeper mixed leagues.

Schanuel had reached three times and stole a base going into the tenth inning but had nothing to show for it in the 1-1 contest. He came through in the big spot for the Angels, knocking a base hit to center field to score the walk-off run. The 23-year-old first baseman is hitting .284/.382/.391 with three homers, 34 runs scored, 21 RBI and three steals across 265 plate appearances.

Schanuel has batted .310/.422/.407 with a homer, eight doubles, 10 RBIs, and 20 runs scored over his last 32 games, and could have had another home run if Denzel Clarke didn’t make an insane catch on Monday night. Part of Schanuel’s success has been patience, “just getting a pitch in [his] zone to do damage with. Or if [he has] to take [his] single the other way, or if [he has] to walk, take a walk.” The other part is that his bat speed is up 2.8 mph from last year, which is the third-biggest improvement in the Majors this season. He’s certainly worth a look as a corner infielder in 15-team leagues and maybe 12-team leagues as well.

Schanuel didn’t hit anything hard tonight, but he was involved in two of the Angels’ biggest plays. In the third, he managed to sneak a weak grounder to short into the outfield against the shift, plating two runs. In the 10th, he put down a sac bunt to advance the automatic runner, only to reach because Zack Kelly botched the play. Schanuel’s RBI hit was his first since May 19. He has just 16 RBI in 238 plate appearances this season. He has as many sac hits (three) as homers.

Schanuel singled off of Luis L. Ortiz in the third inning but was left stranded at second base. He then delivered a two-out single off of Tim Herrin in the seventh and scored on a run-scoring knock off the bat of Jorge Soler. The 23-year-old first baseman is now hitting .277/.369/.383 on the season with just three homers, 14 RBI, one stolen base and a 28/26 K/BB ratio through his first 219 plate appearances.

Schanuel greeted J.T. Ginn rudely with a two-run homer in the first inning. That homer gives the 23-year-old three on the season, while the pair of doubles bumps that total to nine. Schanuel has been a fine performer in 2025 with a .277/.365/.406 slash, but the lack of power makes him a hard sell for fantasy leagues over the final two-thirds of the season.

Schanuel was due for a game like this, as he was hitless in his first two games of May and had seen his average plummet from to .282 to .231 over the last two weeks. Schanuel has long-term upside at the first base position, but there are certainly better options at the position for 2025. Likely 2026, too.
