The Yankees, and fantasy managers, got the best-possible news when X-rays and an MRI didn’t reveal any fractures or structural damage after Rice was hit on the left elbow by a pitch during Saturday’s contest against the Rays. The 26-year-old first baseman is going to need some time off to rest and recover, but it doesn’t appear he’ll require a trip to the injured list. There’s a chance he’s back at some point during New York’s upcoming three-game series against the Guardians. It’ll be Trent Grisham moving up to the leadoff spot for Sunday’s showdown against the division-rival Rays.

Bello will make his season debut at Fenway Park after striking out seven and allowing four runs over 4 1/3 innings last Wednesday for Double-A Portland in his final rehab outing. The move pushes lefty Sean Newcomb back to later in the series. The 25-year-old righty shouldn’t have any restrictions from a workload standpoint after getting his pitch count up to 71 in his final rehab start. He doesn’t offer significant strikeout upside, but there’s some appeal for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues.

Gibson provides Miami with a fresh relief arm for Sunday’s series finale against the Phillies. It’s the first call-up for the 27-year-old southpaw after spending the last four seasons in Miami’s system after being selected in the 10th round of the 2022 MLB Draft. He’ll operate in long relief for the Marlins.

Simon was a notable prospect a couple years ago in Tampa Bay’s system, which probably explains why former Rays executive turned Miami front office architect Peter Bendix brought him in a couple months ago on a minor league deal. He’ll replace an injured Griffin Conine (shoulder) on the Marlins active roster.

It’s a significant loss for the Marlins as Conine is facing an extended absence and will be sidelined until at least late June, even in a best-case scenario. He’s slated to undergo a battery of additional tests and imaging to determine the extent of the damage after suffering the injury during Saturday’s contest against the Phillies on a slide into second base.

Monteverde’s stay on Miami’s active roster winds up lasting roughly 24 hours. The 27-year-old southpaw made his big-league debut during Saturday’s bizarre affair with the Phillies, allowing four runs over 3 2/3 innings. There might be some interest on waivers.

Valdez has done nothing but hit since the Pirates brought him up back in late March, slashing .239 (11-for-46) with six extra-base hits and nine RBI in 16 contests. There’s some sneaky fantasy appeal here for managers in NL-only formats, especially if Pittsburgh can hide his defensive issues at the cold corner. It’ll be Jared Triolo at first base on Sunday afternoon in his place.

It appears to be a routine day off for Cruz, who is hitting .269 (7-for-26) with three homers and three steals over his last seven games. He’s putting the ball in the air more often and hitting the ball harder this season, which is a recipe for fantasy stardom. It’ll be Ke’Bryan Hayes moving up to the leadoff spot with Alexander Canario in center field.

No real surprise here following Kjerstad’s early exit from Saturday’s showdown with right elbow discomfort. The encouraging news here for fantasy managers is that the 26-year-old doesn’t appear to have suffered serious injury after being hit by a pitch. He’s day-to-day for now. It’ll be Ryan O’Hearn moving out to right field with Ramón Laureano entering Sunday’s lineup to play left field.

Ohtani returns for Sunday’s series finale against the Rangers at Globe Life Field following a two-game absence while on paternity leave. The 30-year-old two-way superstar is slashing a robust .288/.380/.550 with six homers, eight RBI and five steals through 20 games. That’ll work.

Rosario went 1-for-4 at the plate in a pair of contests for Los Angeles while superstar Shohei Ohtani was away from the club on paternity leave. Well, that was quick. Young has been shipped back to the minors after allowing three runs over four innings on Saturday against the Reds in his big-league debut. It’s unclear whether he’ll wind up returning later next week to make another start, but the Orioles are going to use his roster spot to fortify their bullpen for the next couple days. The 26-year-old righty has looked extremely sharp at the Triple-A level so far and figures to get another shot down the road.

Tate was the fourth-overall pick in the 2015 MLB Draft and eventually became a quality high-leverage reliever for the Orioles before injuries derailed him a couple seasons ago. Steer will make his first start of the season in the field during Sunday’s finale at Camden Yards. The 27-year-old had been limited to DH exclusively for the first couple weeks of the year due to a lingering shoulder issue. It’s not a bad idea for Marsh to spend some extra time away from the diamond right now since he’s been ice-cold at the dish this season, hitting .095 (4-for-42) with one homer and five RBI in 17 games. It’ll be Johan Rojas taking over as Philadelphia’s primary center field in his absence.
