Baty’s regular season is officially over and his playoff availability is in serious jeopardy as well, if New York makes it there. The 25-year-old third baseman experienced oblique discomfort while attempting to resume swinging on Saturday and will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the issue. There should be an update concerning his potential postseason return at some point in the coming days. It’s a significant loss for the Mets since he’s batted .291 with nine homers and 30 RBI in 55 games since the Midsummer Classic. It’ll likely be Ronny Mauricio filling the void at the hot corner.

New York will be without their primary third baseman for a pivotal showdown against Miami that carries plenty of playoff implications. It’ll be top prospect Ronny Mauricio stepping into the spotlight at the hot corner in this one. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza expressed concern late Friday that Baty could be done for the season. There should be some clarity on his status this weekend once he undergoes additional evaluation and imaging to determine the severity of the issue.

Baty will undergo additional imaging this weekend to determine the severity of a possible oblique issue that cropped up during Friday’s game against the Marlins. Even a mild strain would likely require a couple weeks to rest and fully recover. The 25-year-old’s absence would likely result in more prominent roles for Ronny Mauricio and Luisangel Acuña during the postseason, should New York make it.

Baby’s home run was his 16th of the season. The 25-year-old infielder hit a solo shot off Hunter Greene in the third inning. Baty hadn’t hit a home run since August 20 against the Nationals, snapping a streak of 15 games without a home run. He’s hitting .251 with a .743 OPS and 44 RBI this year.

After the Mets fell behind 4-0, Baty got their comeback attempt rolling with a monstrous 114.8 mph, 455 foot home run to right field. It was the longest home run of his career and second consecutive day where he sent one into the upper deck at Nationals Park. Baty has now started in eight of the Mets’ last nine games and has an .856 OPS in his last 30 games played. It feels like he’s turned a corner.

Baty has now started every game for the Mets since the All-Star break. In July, he’s hitting .279 with a .895 OPS and has seemed to get far better results since adopting more of a pull line drive and ground ball approach. He has a 50 percent hard hit rate in July and could be starting to figure it out a bit at the big league level.

Baty’s homer was crushed 110 mph against Nick Martinez, who allowed just one other hard-hit ball in the contest. The start today was Baty’s first in three games and second in five, as he sat out twice against lefties and once versus a righty. His .868 OPS this month is far better than Ronny Mauricio’s .642 or Mark Vientos’s .537, so it should at least be a little while before he sits against a righty again.

Baty heads to the bench with lefty Carlos Rodón taking the hill on Saturday after 11 consecutive starts between second and third base since June 23. The 25-year-old is hitting just .196 (19-for-97) with three homers and one steal over his last 30 games and will continue to cede occasional playing time to Mark Vientos at the hot corner when the DH spot is occupied.

Baty hasn’t at all built on his great May, and he might be looking at losing some playing time, especially once Jesse Winker returns. He can’t really complain about it, either, given that he’s now up to 235 major league games with a .216/.279/.344 line and a 76 OPS+.

Baty missed each of the team’s last three games due to a groin injury. He’ll start at the hot corner and bat eighth against Phillies’ ace right-hander Zack Wheeler on Friday evening in Philadelphia. Baty returns to a .219/.267/.419 slash line with eight homers, 24 RBI and three stolen bases in his first 173 plate appearances.

The 25-year-old infielder has missed each of the team’s last two games due to a groin injury. He’ll be put through a battery of drills before Thursday’s game which will determine whether or not he’ll be available off of the Mets’ bench. Fortunately, it sounds like he has turned a corner in his recovery and will not require a trip to the injured list.

Top prospect Ronny Mauricio will get another opportunity at the hot corner while Mark Vientos (hamstring) continues his minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Syracuse. Baty, who has been slumping at the dish since the start of June, will sit out his second straight contest after suffering a groin injury during Sunday’s series finale against the Rays. He’s presumably day-to-day for now.

It’s the highest Baty has slotted into New York’s lineup since being recalled from Triple-A Syracuse back on May 5. The 25-year-old former top prospect has provided a serious spark, hitting .280 (14-for-50) with five homers, 13 RBI and one steal in 17 games during that span. His multi-position eligibility is an extra bonus for fantasy managers as well. He’s deserving of a roster spot in deeper mixed leagues, especially formats that utilize middle and corner infield spots.

No Help for Baty: The Story of the 2025 Mets. Baty also homered Friday. He’s started three games in a row after sitting out the first two following his recall Monday. There’s a pretty good argument for giving him a real look at this point, and it doesn’t have to be wholly at Mark Vientos’s expense with Jesse Winker on the IL. He wouldn’t be a bad bench stash in mixed leagues.

Baty gets another shot with the Mets after Jesse Winker suffered an oblique strain during Sunday’s twin bill against the Cardinals. The 25-year-old former top prospect was shipped to the minors back on April 24 after hitting .204/.246/.352 with one homer and one steal in 19 games to open the year.

Who doesn’t love an early-season trade. It’s the type of deal that benefits both sides as Pittsburgh fortifies their catching situation at Triple-A Indianapolis in the wake of an injury to Endy Rodríguez (finger) at the big-league level. Harris has started the year going 16-for-41 (.390) with two home runs, three steals, seven RBI, and 13 runs scored. He didn’t produce in his first big league action last year, but with Gio Urshela hitting just .179/.220/.256 in 42 plate appearances for the Athletics this season, you have to wonder if another few strong weeks from Harris could push the team to make a move.
