Carroll finishes as one of only seven players this season to record a 30-homer, 30-steal campaign. The 25-year-old fantasy superstar ends with a .259/.343/.541 slash line with a big-league leading 17 triples to go along with 107 runs scored, 31 round-trippers, 84 RBI and 32 thefts in 143 games. He’ll be a first-round selection in all fantasy drafts until further notice.

It’s a well-earned day off for both Carroll and Marte after the injury-ravaged Diamondbacks were officially eliminated from playoff contention on Friday night with a loss to the Padres. The tandem figure to be ready to roll for Sunday’s series finale against San Diego, but it wouldn’t be a complete shock to see them get the entire weekend off to rest and recover after a long season.

Carroll joins Juan Soto, José Ramírez and Jazz Chisholm Jr. as the lone members of the 30-homer, 30-steal club thus season. He opened the scoring in the first inning as he plated Ketel Marte with a fielder’s choice before breaking this contest wide open with a gargantuan 428-foot three-run shot off of Ranger Suárez to cap off a five-run uprising in the second inning. He’s now slashing a healthy .260/.340/.546 on the season with a career-high 31 homers, 83 RBI and 30 stolen bases in 624 plate appearances.

Carroll’s homer is the 30th of the season. The 25-year-old also added his 24th steal of the campaign, and the homer and a single pushes his OPS on the year up to .893. It’d be nice to see Carroll hit for the same kind of average he did in his first taste of MLB action, but a “willingness” to strikeout and sell out for power has made that unlikely. There’s still an awful lot of fantasy upside — realized fantasy upside, to be clear — in Carroll’s left-handed stroke.

Carroll crushed a two-out, 380-foot (103.5 mph EV) three-run shot off of Tanner Scott in the eighth inning to erase a three-run deficit. That would be the extent of their offense in the game though. The 25-year-old outfielder also singled in the ballgame, finishing the afternoon 2-for-4. On the season, he’s slashing .258/.333/.559 with 29 homers, 71 RBI and 21 stolen bases.

Carroll tripled in the fourth inning and scored on a groundout. He then drove in a run in the fifth with another triple. Carroll hit into a force out and reached first in the seventh before stealing second and scoring his second run. The 24-year-old outfielder is slashing .253/.329/.559 with 27 homers, 84 runs scored, 65 RBI, and 17 steals across 496 plate appearances.

What a loss it was, too, considering that the Diamondbacks outhit the Rockies 13-9, outhomered them 2-0, outwalked them 4-1, went 4-for-4 stealing bases and committed no errors to the Rockies’ two. Carroll’s homer was his sixth this month. He’s driven in 14 runs and scored 13 times in 16 games during August.

Carroll has just a .221 average and a .296 OBP to go along with a much more impressive .518 slugging percentage in his last 57 games, so taking him out of the leadoff spot doesn’t seem like a bad idea. He might also be more inclined to run without the D’backs best hitters coming up behind him. Perdomo has a .385 OBP this season, though he’s also been exceptional at driving in runs; he’s hit .336 with RISP to rack up 78 RBI in spite of his modest power numbers.

The dynamic 24-year-old outfielder victimized right-hander Nathan Eovaldi for a 349-foot (101.3 mph EV) two-run blast in the third inning that extended the Diamondbacks’ lead to 3-0. He also singled in the ballgame. For the season, Carroll is now hitting .251/.325/.561 with 26 long balls, 62 RBI and 14 swipes through his first 459 plate appearances.

Carroll did his damage in the sixth inning with a 424-foot (109.5 mph EV) two-run bomb that increased the Diamondbacks’ advantage to 6-1. The 24-year-old superstar is having another outstanding season at the dish, slashing .247/.322/.551 with 24 homers, 58 RBI and 14 stolen bases (in 18 attempts).

Marte’s homer is the 22nd of the season, and his first since July 6. He also drew two walks and scored a pair of runs, so it was a nice Saturday evening for the 24-year-old. Carroll’s run hot and cold, but ultimately fantasy managers can’t complain about a player with that homer total, 14 stolen bases and an OPS of .868. Not credibly, anyway.

Carroll led off the game with a triple off of Casey Mize and scored on an RBI knock off the bat of Ketel Marte. He also singled in the second inning but wound up stranded at third base. With his two-hit attack, the 24-year-old superstar outfielder is now slashing .247/.320/.543 with 21 homers, 50 RBI and 13 stolen bases on the season.

Carroll smacked a leadoff triple off of Miles Mikolas to open the home half of the first inning then scored on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Geraldo Perdomo. He also singled with two outs in the seventh inning and swiped second base, but the Diamondbacks couldn’t cash him in from there. On the season, the 24-year-old superstar is now hitting .251/.328/.564 to go with 21 homers, 48 RBI and 12 stolen bases.

The second triple and double both would have been homers in 19 ballparks, according to Statcast. Carroll is up to 12 triples this season, putting him on pace to smash his MLB-high total of 14 from last season. He also had 10 as a rookie in 2023, and at just 24 years old, he’s already tied for 17th in triples among active players with 34 (Starling Marte and Mike Trout top the list at 55).

Carroll hit one of four homers in the game for the D-backs in the ninth inning to give Arizona an 8-2 lead. The 24-year-old also struck out four times, and his .250 average is a little on the disappointing side. His 21 homers have definitely helped compensate for that ‘low’ average.

Getting to play your home games in Arizona and being faster than the overwhelming majority of players gives you a good chance to pile up the triples, and Carroll has done just that with 10 already before the All-Star break. The 24-year-old also doubled while improving his season slash to .250/.332/.563. It wouldn’t be a huge surprise if Carroll approached 20-plus three-baggers someday. It could even be 2025.

Carroll, who had never before had a four-strikeout game, wasn’t the only Diamondback to struggle today, but he was the only one to fan more than once; the rest of the team combined for five strikeouts against Michael Lorenzen and company in the contest. That Carroll rushed back so quickly from the chip fracture in his wrist might have been a mistake, as he’s gone 0-for-9 the last two days.

Carroll returns to Arizona’s lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Royals following a two-week absence recovering from a fracture in his left wrist. The 24-year-old fantasy superstar has put together a remarkable first half, hitting .255/.341/.573 with 20 homers and 10 streals through 72 games. The central question for fantasy purposes whenever a hitter comes back from a wrist injury is whether it’ll wind up sapping their power production. It’s the singular variable that fantasy managers should pay close attention to in the handful of games left before the All-Star break.

Lovullo declined to say exactly when Carroll will rejoin Arizona’s lineup, but it sounds like it could potentially be at some point this weekend. The 24-year-old has gotten a handful of rehab games under his belt in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League as he works his way back at a remarkably-fast pace from a fractured left wrist.

The 24-year-old superstar has been saying that he plans to return before the All-Star break, and the fact that he’s already back in live game action puts him on a path to accomplish that goal. The assumption is that he’ll at least remain there through the weekend, but we’re not putting anything past Carroll at this point.

It’s a step in the right direction after Carroll was forced to hit the injured list last week with a fractured left wrist. The 24-year-old fantasy standout is likely a couple weeks away from making it back to Arizona’s lineup, but there’s optimism he isn’t facing an extended absence. The fact he’s ready to resume swinging a bat again is a positive development.

It’s only a chip fracture, so perhaps Carroll will be able to return right after the break. The Diamondbacks, though, haven’t put out any timetable yet. They’ll likely give Carroll’s playing time to the newly recalled Jake McCarthy and Tim Tawa. Maybe Pavin Smith will see more time against lefties with Randal Grichuk starting in right field instead of the DH spot.

Not good. The Diamondbacks are seeking multiple medical opinions after Carroll underwent an MRI and CT scan on Monday that revealed a chip fracture in his left wrist. There is no timetable for his return at the moment, but fantasy managers should prepare for an extended absence. It’s a devastating blow to Arizona’s offense as he’s been their primary top-of-the-order catalyst this season with 20 homers and 10 steals through 72 games. It’ll be Jake McCarthy coming up from Triple-A Reno to fill his roster spot, presumably to platoon with Randal Grichuk in right field.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters they’re still waiting for the results of an MRI that Carroll underwent earlier in the day. He added that the “concern level” over the situation is higher than its been in recent days. The 24-year-old superstar is out of Monday’s lineup for the fifth-straight game due to a left hand contusion and won’t be available to pinch-hit. We’ll have updates on the developing situation as it unfolds. There should be something definitive following Monday’s series opener in Chicago.

Not good. Carroll remains on the bench as he continues to recover from a left hand contusion that he suffered earlier this week on Wednesday when he was hit by a pitch. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters the 24-year-old will undergo an MRI on Monday in Chicago to determine whether he’s dealing with any structural damage. The fact that he hasn’t been put on the injured list is an encouraging sign as it appears the organization is merely proceeding with an abundance of caution by giving their franchise cornerstone some extra time off to rest and recover. Hopefully he’ll be ready to return for Monday’s series opener against the White Sox, assuming the MRI comes back clean.

Carroll is still considered day-to-day, but he’ll miss another game with his hand contusion. Randal Grichuk will start in right field against Colorado on Saturday and he’ll bat fifth. There’s a decent chance that Carroll will miss Sunday’s game as well as a precaution.
