Carter smoked a 388-foot shot off Roki Sasaki to tie the game at 1-1 in the third inning. He also drew a pair of walks, and the 23-year-old has improved his slash to .233/.365/.442. If he can stay healthy, Carter could be in for a big 2026 campaign, and fantasy managers have obviously seen what he’s capable of when healthy and at his best.

Carter’s homer was a 373-footer that would have left 17 parks, according to Statcast. He’s not off to a particularly strong start at .237/.341/.395 in 44 plate appearances, but his EV numbers are a little bit better than usual. He’ll probably be mixed-league relevant if he stays healthy, but he has, of course, had major difficulties in that department.

Carter sat against a left-hander on Wednesday, but the Reds will start all right-handed pitchers this weekend, which is good news for Carter, Josh Smith, and Joc Pederson. They can all be started in leagues where you can make mid-week lineupm changes.

With left-hander Trevor Rogers on the mound, the Rangers will sit a few of their left-handed hitters. Smith has made one start this season against a lefty, but has sat out the last two. Andrew McCutchen will start in right field and bat fifth, Ezequiel Duran will start at second base and hit eighth, and Sam Haggerty will start in left field and bat ninth.

Carter took a seat to start Opening Day with Phillies ace Cristopher Sánchez on the bump and wound up going 0-for-2 off the bench. The 23-year-old center fielder is back in there to face righty Aaron Nola on Saturday afternoon.

The Rangers have said they wanted to get Carter in the lineup more against lefties, but it won’t be against Cristopher Sanchez on Opening Day. Instead, Wyatt Langford will shift over to center field, and Sam Haggerty will enter the lineup in left field. The Rangers’ full Opening Day lineup is: Brandon Nimmo RF, Wyatt Langford CF, Corey Seager SS, Jake Burger 1B, Andrew McCutchen DH, Josh Jung 3B, Josh Smith 2B, Danny Jansen C, and Sam Haggerty LF.

Carter has some post-hype sleeper to his profile after a few lost seasons to injuries and is widely available in shallow leagues. The idea that he might not be stuck in a pure platoon situation adds to his appeal. Carter has hit .222 with two homers and a steal in 27 Spring Training at-bats to date, managing a .909 OPS.

Carter’s first-inning blast against Angels starter Victor Mederos traveled 385 feet with a 108.3 mph exit velocity. The talent has never been in dispute — the bat speed, the athleticism, the power/speed blend all remain intact. The complication has been availability, as back, quad and wrist injuries have limited the 23-year-old former top prospect to just 108 combined games over the past two seasons. When he’s on the field, the skill set still hints at something dynamic. The question isn’t ability; it’s continuity. That tension keeps him in late-round flyer territory this spring — the kind of pick that can quietly outperform cost if the body finally cooperates.

No major concerns here on Carter’s availability for the regular season, as apparently whatever illness Corey Seager had is going around the clubhouse.

It was already announced that Carter was going to miss the remainder of the season with his fractured wrist, so this move doesn’t come as a surprise. It was done as a procedural move to clear a spot for Dylan Moore on the team’s 40-man roster on Friday.

The dynamic 22-year-old outfielder suffered the injury when he was hit by a pitch during Thursday’s game against the Royals. He’ll unfortunately miss the remainder of the 2025 season. Carter finishes the year hitting .247/.336/.392 with five homers, 25 RBI and 14 stolen bases over 220 plate appearances.

It’s a brutal development for the Rangers, and fantasy managers, as Carter was in the midst of a strong season — when healthy. The 22-year-old former top prospect, who suffered the injury on Thursday when he was hit by a pitch, will likely miss the final five weeks of the season and finishes with a .728 OPS with five homers and 14 steals in 63 games. He’s shown flashes of immense fantasy potential over the last few years, but continues to be snake-bitten by injuries.

Carter remained in the game to run the bases for himself and swiped second base before being stranded there. He then singled and scored in the fifth inning before he was lifted for a defensive replacement in the eighth inning. He’ll likely head for precautionary X-rays to rule out any fractures. Look for the Rangers to have an update on his status as soon as more information becomes available.

Carter takes a seat with southpaw Eric Lauer drawing Saturday’s starting assignment for Toronto. He’ll likely continue riding the bench against left-handers over the final few weeks of the season. The 22-year-old former top prospect has gone 3-for-7 with an RBI in a pair of contests since returning from the injured list earlier this week after missing time with back spasms. It’ll be Wyatt Langford covering center field with Sam Haggerty drawing into the lineup.

Carter missed just-over the minimum 10-day stint while dealing with back spasms. He should be an everyday option — with the occasional day of rest, of course — now that he’s back. The question is if these back issues are going to linger in not just 2025, but beyond.

Carter will be eligible to return from the injured list next Tuesday, and it sounds like he wants to try for that date. The Rangers, though, might want him to go play a few games in the minors, since he wasn’t hitting much getting hurt. He’s batted just .174/.250/.290 since the beginning of July, lowering his OPS from .816 to .704.

The massive concern here for the Rangers — and fantasy managers — is Carter’s troubling history of back issues, which kept him on the shelf for most of last season. The 22-year-old is going to get some extra time off to rest and recover after experiencing back spasms earlier this week. There is no timetable for his return at this juncture, especially since back issues can be extremely complicated matters.

The big concern for the Rangers — and fantasy managers — is Carter’s history of back issues, which sidelined him for a large chunk of last season. While nothing is official yet, it sounds like he’ll miss at least a couple games this weekend and may ultimately require a stint on the injured list.

Carter won’t be available off the bench as he is away from the club on Monday night to attend his grandfather’s funeral. The 22-year-old is expected to return on Wednesday and will not be placed on the bereavement list, which would require him to miss at least three days.

Josh Smith is also taking a seat on Monday night with lefty Trevor Rogers taking the hill for Baltimore at Globe Life Field. The 22-year-old former top prospect is in the midst of a seven-game hitting streak, batting .357 (10-for-28) with three steals during that span. It’ll be Michael Helman getting his first start in center field with Justin Foscue filling in at the cold corner.

Carter smacked a one-out double off of Luis Castillo in the second inning and scored the game’s first run on an RBI knock off the bat of Josh Jung. He then singled in the sixth inning and swiped second base but was left stranded there. The 22-year-old outfielder also was walked intentionally in the 11th inning and swiped second base to get himself into scoring position, but the Rangers couldn’t cash him in. With his three-hit attack, Carter is now slashing .283/.372/.444 with four homers, 11 RBI and eight stolen bases in his first 113 plate appearances with the Rangers this season.

The 22-year-old former top prospect has been on a roll over the past few weeks, hitting .293 (12-for-41) with three homers and three steals over his last 15 games. It’ll be Sam Haggerty getting a chance in left field and occupying the leadoff spot in his place on Wednesday night.

Carter told reporters his left wrist felt “outstanding” prior to Sunday’s contest, so we’re assuming his absence for the second consecutive game is merely out of an abundance of caution prior to Monday’s off-day. The 22-year-old outfielder should be ready to return for Tuesday’s series opener against the Royals, barring an unexpected development.

Wyatt Langford will slide over to cover center field while Sam Haggerty will draw a start in left and will bat ninth against White Sox’ right-hander Mike Vasil on Saturday.
