Busch continues to impress in 2025, and he’s up to four homers and 12 RBI over 58 at-bats with the two-run shot in a blowout loss Monday night. The former first-round pick is showing he’s capable of being a starting first baseman in fantasy formats in 2025 and beyond.

The stolen base was the seventh of the year for Crow-Armstrong, but he did get caught stealing for the first time. Hard to complain about that success rate. The outfielder bumps up his slash to .257/.313/.432 with the three-hit night, and that sort of undersells how well Crow-Armstrong has played over the first few weeks of the campaign.

Taillon allowed three hits in the contest, and he issued one free pass while firing 63-of-89 pitches for strikes. He gave up a solo homer to Fernando Tatis Jr., but he limited the hard contact for most of the contest in a solid outing against a competent San Diego lineup. Taillon still has a 5.40 ERA, but he’s pitched better than those numbers after his ugly first start of the campaign. He’ll face the Diamondbacks next weekend.

All four hits were singles. That sees the 28-year-old’s batting average shoot up to .391. He’s also slugging .563 with seven extra-base hits, so he hasn’t been a dink-and-dunk hitter to procure that average. Donovan could be in for a breakout campaign, but it’s just as likely — if not more so — that there’s some regression coming soon. There’s regression coming either way, because no one is hitting .391 in 2025.

Arenado doubled twice off Framber Valdez, and then swatted a solo homer off Luis Contreras in the seventh. The future Hall of Famer has homered twice in 2025, and the pair of doubles brings that total to six already in just 16 games. It’s extremely early, but it’s encouraging to see Arenado driving the baseball after his disappointing 2024 campaign.

Valdez was exceptional against the Mariners last week. He was less-than-spectacular Monday, It’s worth noting that five of the 10 hits he allowed went for extra bases, and he struck out just three while landing 55-of-89 pitches for strikes. Valdez has alternated clunkers with scoreless outings to open 2025, and he’ll hope to do the same after this poor outing against the Padres on Saturday.

Gray wasn’t throwing the ball past the Houston lineup Monday, as he generated only six swings and misses over 92 pitches. He was effective regardless, as he allowed just three hits with one walk, and only one of those knocks went for extra-bases. Gray has allowed just a single run over his last two starts, and the seven scoreless lowers his ERA to 3.13. He’ll look to keep up the good work over the weekend in a scheduled start vs. the Mets.

Peña, 27, hit a three-run homer in the ninth, which is a good time to hit one. It’s not quite as impactful when you still trail by five runs, but fantasy managers shouldn’t care. Peña now has three homers, seven RBI and an OPS of .667 through 58 at-bats.

Vázquez is probably going to need a couple days off after taking a foul tip to the right hand during the late stages of Monday’s loss to the Mets. Mickey Gasper will serve as the primary backup to Ryan Jeffers during that span.

It’s already the fifth homer of the season for Carpenter. The 27-year-old also singled to improve his slash to .269/.304/.596. He remains a vastly underrated power source, even knowing he’s not going to have much success — or playing time — against southpaw hurlers.

Torres drove in a run on a groundout in the second, and two innings later, he singled home two to extend the Tigers’ lead to 6-0. Torres has now driven in just four runs on the season, but he’s been able to hit .389/.476/.556 over his five games. That’s not sustainable, of course, but it’s nice to see some early results for the 28-year-old in his first year in the Motor City.

Yes, there were some defensive gaffes made in this game, but one of them was made by Alexander, so he can’t yell at his teammates when they’re playing video games later Monday night. The 30-year-old has not pitched well in his last two outings, and there’s very little reason to trust Alexander as a fantasy option. He’s scheduled to face the Athletics over the weekend. You can do better.

Skubal has now gone back-to-back starts without allowing a run, and the defending Cy Young winner lowered his ERA to 2.66 in the process. He generated 16 swings-and-misses on just 91 pitches, and looked like the 2024 version — again — after a couple of so-so outings to begin the year. Skubal is a must-start against anyone, and that includes the Royals over the weekend.

Holmes allowed two hits, walked two and struck out eight. He’s been too inefficient to pitch deep into games thus far, but he’s 2-1 with a 3.66 ERA and the Mets have won three of his four starts. He’ll face the Cardinals next.

Ryan had the same line as Clay Holmes — they even both had eight strikeouts and two walks — but he was left with a no-decision and Holmes got the win after the Mets took a lead in the top of the sixth. Ryan’s sweeper was ridiculously effective tonight, accounting for seven whiffs, 13 strikes and one ball the 14 times he threw it. He might need to mix that in more frequently against the Braves on Sunday.

The Mets kept quiet about any reason for sitting Winker while he was missing, but it turned out he was dealing with some sort of illness. He definitely had a rough game tonight, popping up twice and striking out in his other plate appearances, so it might be a few more days before he’s right.

Correa batted fifth tonight, which is the lowest he’s hit this season. He might be dropped further tomorrow. He does have five doubles, but he’s yet to homer in 16 games, and he’s driven in just three runs. The Twins’ offensive issues are hardly all his fault, but a .456 OPS just isn’t getting it done.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said late Monday that Siri underwent an MRI and CT scan that revealed the fracture. The 29-year-old center fielder suffered the injury during Saturday’s game against the Athletics when he fouled a ball hard off his left shin. He’s going to wind up missing several months, even in a best-case scenario. It’ll be Tyrone Taylor getting the bulk of the playing time in center field in his absence for now.

Jazz Chisholm Jr., Ben Rice and Austin Wells joined Grisham in taking Seth Lugo deep tonight. Grisham has cooled off some, and he was on the bench three of the previous four games before filling in for Cody Bellinger tonight. He’s still at an incredibly impressive .343/.410/.747 in 39 plate appearances for the season, and there is the chance that the Yankees could eventually give him Jasson Domínguez’s lineup spot, even if that’s certainly not how they hope it will work out.

Bobby Witt Jr.'s third-inning homer was the only hit surrendered by Carrasco. The 38-year-old righty struck out four and walked two in the 79-pitch outing. While Carrasco’s ERA stands at 5.94, the Marcus Stroman injury ensured that he would survive Clarke Schmidt’s return. He’ll face the Rays this weekend.

Pitching with a three-run lead, Williams did twice bring the tying run to the plate after allowing a single and a walk. He managed to escape from there, though, and work a scoreless inning for the third time in six appearances. He still hasn’t had a perfect frame while allowing seven hits and six walks in five innings.

All of the runs came in the second, and Walker made things a whole lot worse then by throwing a potential double-play ball into center field with one out and only one run in. Walker did well afterwards, allowing just one hit over his final three innings of work, but the damage was done. He’ll get the Marlins next.

Campbell’s third-inning blast against Rays emerging ace Shane Baz left his bat at 104.5 mph and cleared everything out beyond the left-field fence at George M. Steinbrenner Field. It was his third big fly of the year. The 22-year-old rookie was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise dismal series opener as the Red Sox mustered just one run on five hits and lost for the sixth time in their last 10 games since April 6. Not good.
