Warren’s first inning wasn’t bad; he gave up singles to the first two batters he faced, but one of the runners was erased on the basepaths, and Warren completed the inning having thrown 15 pitches. The second inning, however, saw him throw 38 pitches and walk two while getting two outs. He was replaced by Ryan Yarbrough with the bases loaded, and Yarbrough retired Brandon Lowe to end the threat. Warren’s ERA essentially held steady at 5.17 in spite of the weak effort. The immediate threat to his rotation spot was cleared when Marcus Stroman’s knee injury created room for Clarke Schmidt, but Warren still might be on thin ice anyway. He’s due to face the Guardians next.

Williams needed just six pitches tonight. The Rays actually put three of his four changeups into play, but they turned into a fairly well-hit groundout, a popup and a weak liner to third. Williams has retired six in a row in his last two outings after struggling some over the first two weeks.

Rice put five balls in play, the softest of which was a 94.6-mph single. His one out was a 107.0-mph grounder. To think he’d probably be in the minors right now if Giancarlo Stanton was healthy, and even with Stanton out, the Yankees weighed picking Dominic Smith over him this spring. Rice is batting .317/.414/.650 in 17 games.

It was a 338-footer down the line and it was followed by three groundouts, so we wouldn’t say Vientos is back. He’s gotta start somewhere, though. Vientos is batting .152/.253/.258 through 18 games.

Canning was originally due to start Wednesday before being pushed back due to an illness. He obviously showed little effect of it tonight while racking up 16 whiffs and allowing just four hard-hit balls. He improved to 2-1 with a 3.43 ERA ahead of next week’s start against the Phillies.

Díaz issued a leadoff walk and got just one whiff on five swings tonight, but it all worked out. He’s still had only one one-two-three inning in eight appearances, that coming in his season debut against the Astros on March 28. Since he’s thrown 34 pitches the last two days, he should be down Friday, potentially resulting in a save chance for Ryne Stanek.

Pallante had velocity issues this spring, but he figured it out at the end of March and actually averaged 95.2 mph with his fastball in his season debut. Since then, though, he’s fallen off to 93.8 mph, 93.2 mph and 92.4 mph tonight. He has a 3.22 ERA for the season, but he won’t keep that up for much longer if he can’t arrest this decline. He’ll face the Braves next.

Greene entered play on Thursday slashing a woeful .206/.239/.397 on the season. He went to work on improving that in the third inning as he plated Spencer Torkelson with an RBI single. The 24-year-old outfielder delivered another run-scoring single in the fifth inning, extending the Tigers’ lead to 4-0. He also reached on an infield single in the seventh. With the three-hit attack, Greene is now slashing .233/.263/.411 to go along with three homers, seven RBI and a 30/3 K/BB ratio through his first 74 plate appearances.

Torkelson opened the scoring in the ballgame with a two-run double off of former teammate Michael Lorenzen in the third inning. Torkelson then raced around to score on an RBI single by Riley Greene. He added a run-scoring single in the eighth inning to tack on an insurance run. The 25-year-old slugger has been extremely impressive through his first 19 games on the season, slashing .286/.381/.629 with a team-leading six home runs and 16 RBI.

It looked as though Tigers’ skipper A.J. Hinch had wanted to save Kahnle for the ninth inning, but he was called upon earlier after Beau Brieske allowed a run to score and had two men on and no one out in the eighth. Kahnle then needed just five pitches to escape trouble — getting Hunter Renfroe to ground into a double play and Drew Waters to ground out to shortstop. So he returned for the ninth and worked a scoreless inning to close it out. People keep saying that the Tigers’ bullpen has been a mess, but those truly paying attention have seen that Kahnle has been operating as a traditional closer since the first weekend of the season. He has made good on each of his first three save chances while posting a 1.29 ERA and 5/0 K/BB ratio over seven innings.

The 25-year-old hurler punched out five batters on the evening while allowing two free passes. The Royals put their first two men on against him to start the game and also loaded the bases with one out in the fourth inning but weren’t able to scratch out a single run against him. Olson generated 10 whiffs on 87 pitches on the night — eight of them on his changeup — while posting a CSW of 32 percent. He’ll try to build off of his strongest start of the season as he carries a 4.50 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and an 18/10 K/BB ratio (20 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Padres.

The homer was hit 393 feet, but since it was hit just to the right of dead center, it would have been out of only six ballparks, according to Statcast. It was the third homer of the year for O’Hearn, who is now batting an impressive .326/.404/.587 in 52 plate appearances. It’s unclear what he’d have to do in order to exit his platoon role. His fine showing last year wasn’t enough; he started just three games against southpaws in 2024. He’s yet to be included in the lineup against a lefty this season.

The runs came on back-to-back homers from Daniel Schneeman and Austin Hedges in the third, of course. This is pretty much what Sugano is going to do when he’s on; he’ll be vulnerable to the home run ball, but he’ll also produce a bunch of routine contact while walking no one and striking out only a few more. He fanned three tonight, giving him eight strikeouts in 22 innings on the season. Nevertheless, he’s 2-1 with a 3.43 ERA. He’ll pitch against the Nationals next time out.

Bibee allowed only six hard-hit balls, but three of those turned into homers. A couple of those homers would have stayed in play in other parks (one was a homer in 15 parks, another a homer in six), but that’s not to say Bibee was good. He again lacked command, and four walks tonight gave him a 12.6 percent walk rate through four starts. That’s double last year’s mark of 6.2 percent. At least his new cutter was effective tonight. Maybe Bibee will wind up being a disappointment this year, but it’s hard to see him remaining bad like this. He is benchable with the Yankees next on the schedule.

Thomas is coming back from a wrist issue, so the 0-for-7 the last two days is understandable. Still, he’s hitting .132 with a 12/1 K/BB in 41 plate appearances for the season, and he’s at .195/.250/.348 in 64 games since being acquired from the Nationals last summer. The Guardians ought to turn him into a platoon guy and start Angel Martínez in center field against righties.

Neto cleared the final hurdle on his minor league rehab assignment — playing shortstop for nine innings on consecutive days. He’s getting the night off on Thursday as the Angels’ brass meets to decide whether or not he’s ready to return or if they want him to play in a few more games before coming back. Either way, it sounds like his return is imminent. Fantasy managers who have been stashing him may finally start to reap some rewards over the weekend.

As anticipated, Wallner lands on the injured list after injuring his hamstring during Tuesday’s ballgame. There’s still no word on the severity of the strain or how much time Wallner stands to miss. Jonah Bride — who was acquired from the Marlins — was added to the Twins’ roster in a corresponding move on Thursday.

The 23-year-old budding superstar will serve as the designated hitter on Thursday night before easing his way back into the outfield. Langford wanted to skip the rehab assignment altogether, so as long as he shows that he’s ready to go, there’s a chance that the Rangers could bring him back at some point during their weekend series against the Dodgers.

Schwarber got the Phillies on the board with a go-ahead two-run single off of Jordan Hicks and then scored on a wild pitch as part of a five-run opening inning. He also reached on an infield single in the fifth inning but was left stranded there. The 32-year-old slugger is off to a strong start to the 2025 campaign, slashing .284/.435/.597 with six homers, 14 RBI and a stolen base in his first 85 plate appearances.

The 29-year-old left-hander came on with a three-run lead to protect, but things got a bit closer as he served up a one-out solo homer to Tyler Fitzgerald. After getting Wilmer Flores on a ground ball to shortstop, Alvarado walked Jung Hoo Lee to bring the tying run to the plate before retiring Christian Koss on a fielder’s choice to end it. He appears to be locked in as the preferred ninth inning option for manager Rob Thomson and should continue to provide plenty of fantasy value for as long as he remains healthy and stationed there.

The 28-year-old southpaw allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and one walk. The Giants scratched out a run against him in the first inning on a two-out RBI single by Matt Chapman. Sanchez then served up a two-run homer to Chapman in the sixth after Heliot Ramos had reached on an error. He got a whopping 24 swings and misses on 97 pitches in the ballgame — 22 of those on his changeup alone — while posting an elite CSW of 40 percent. Now 2-0 on the season, Sanchez will carry a 2.96 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 31/6 K/BB ratio (24 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s showdown against the Mets in New York.

It’s unclear when exactly Castellanos sustained the injury, but he was replaced when the Phillies took the field defensively to start the seventh inning. He’ll head for further testing to determine the severity of the injury. Expect the Phillies to provide an update — and a possible timeline for his return — as soon as more information becomes available.

With mounting injuries in their infield, the Twins are in desperate need of reinforcements, and that’s where Keaschall comes in. The 22-year-old second baseman was off to a solid start at Triple-A St. Paul, slashing .261/.379/.348 with one homer, five RBI, four stolen bases and an 11/9 K/BB ratio in 58 plate appearances through his first 14 games. He should see regular playing time while with the Twins, making him an intriguing middle infield option in deeper mixed leagues.

There have been no mentions of any physical issues that Adell is dealing with, so we’re assuming it’s just a regular day of rest for the 26-year-old slugger. Kyren Paris will move to center field to cover for him while Luis Rengifo slides over to second base and J.D. Davis will get an opportunity at the hot corner. For those tracking at home, that will be the fifth game in the outfield this season for Paris as he works towards eligibility there for fantasy purposes.

It appears to be just a routine day of rest for the 24-year-old slugger with right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano toeing the slab for the Orioles. Soderstrom did his damage in the seventh inning of this one, launching a 3-2 slider from Brandon Eisert for a 374-foot (103.9 mph EV) solo shot that made it a 5-0 ballgame. It has taken the 23-year-old slugger just 19 games to match his home run output from the 2024 season where he swatted nine long balls in 213 plate appearances over 61 ballgames. He’s obviously not going to continue at this remarkable pace, but Soderstrom needs to be rostered and started in all fantasy leagues.
