Hays’ homer to straight-away center would have left one ballpark. Fortunately, that’s the one the Reds play in, and this was a home game. GABP is a big part of what makes Hays a somewhat intriguing option in mixed leagues. The 20-homer power he showed in Baltimore from 2021-23 is at least 25-homer power while playing in Cincinnati half of the time. That said, we wouldn’t say Hays needs to be picked up immediately. After these next two home games with Seattle, the Reds will head off to Baltimore and Miami for six games. Things should get better for all Reds hitters on Apri. 25, when they begin a three-game series in Coors and follow it with a seven-game homestand.

This was all Dylan Moore’s fault, as he homered twice and singled off the Reds left-hander. Lodolo struck out six and allowed just two singles and one walk to the rest of the Mariners lineup. He’s still off to an excellent start with his 2.31 ERA, and he might be able to go the entire rest of the year without facing Moore. He’ll get the Orioles next.

Díaz retired the other two, but the Reds replaced him with Graham Ashcraft to finish the frame. It does go down as a hold for Díaz, who was working with a 6-4 lead. Emilio Pagán finished the game with a perfect ninth, but since it was a four-run lead by then, he didn’t get a save. Pagán is the Reds reliever to have rostered right now.

There’s probably more of this coming from Castillo, whose velocity is down about one mph from last year and three mph from his peak. His strikeout rate is currently 19%, compared to 24% last season and 27% the two years before that. He’s really only a mixed-league option in his home starts. Next up, though, is an outing in Toronto.

Good timing for Lux’s best game of the season, what with both Matt McLain and Austin Hays coming off the IL today. Lux will stay in the lineup against righties for now, but he needs to start showing some power; while he raised his average from .216 to .273 tonight, he remained without a homer through 63 plate appearances.

Both homers came off Nick Lodolo. Moore remains as brutal as ever against righties, but that’s why he hits at the bottom of the order when he plays against them. Against lefties this year, he’s 8-for-19 with four homers and three walks. This was his fourth game ever with two homers and second with five RBI.

It’s unclear whether it’ll be a traditional start or more of an opener situation for Hagenman, who will be making his big-league debut in place of Griffin Canning, who was scratched due to illness. The 28-year-old righty has been hit hard this season at Triple-A Syracuse and is not a recommended fantasy option.

Pillar doubled in the second inning, then singled in the eighth on an infield hit. A runner would score on his base hit on an error, so he wasn’t credited with the RBI. The 36-year-old outfielder has helped fill in for Wyatt Langford in left field, going 7-for-20 with four runs scored.

Mahle’s excellent start to the season continued Tuesday with six shutout innings against the Angels. He scattered three hits and two walks, striking out nine batters on an impressive 18 whiffs. The 30-year-old right-hander will take a 0.92 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, and a 21/9 K/BB ratio across 19 2/3 innings into a tough matchup against the Dodgers in Texas on Sunday. While his next matchup presents a risky stream, Mahle certainly deserves a pickup where available.

Soderstrom entered the day tied for the MLB lead in home runs with six. He took over that pedestal in the opening inning with a 388-foot (107.2 mph EV) three-run blast off of Sean Burke before an out had been recorded. Rooker singled off of Sean Burke in the opening inning and rode home on Tyler Soderstrom’s first three-run blast. He then singled in the sixth inning and once again rode home on a three-run bomb by Soderstrom. He’s off to a bit of a slow start at the plate this season, slashing .205/.256/.411, though he does have four home runs and eight RBI to his credit.

The 32-year-old southpaw walked three and struck out four on the night. He ran into major trouble in the opening inning as Andrew Vaughn tagged him for a three-run homer, but Springs settled in nicely after that and kept the White Sox’ offense at bay over his final four frames. He got 10 swings and misses on 93 pitches in the ballgame — three each on his fastball, slider and changeup — while posting an underwhelming CSW of 24 percent. Now 3-1 on the season, he’ll carry a 4.50 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and a 20/10 K/BB ratio (20 innings) into Sunday’s showdown against the Brewers in Milwaukee.

The 24-year-old right-hander struck out four batters during the outstanding outing. He carried a no-hit bid into the sixth inning where he exited after allowing a leadoff double to Gleyber Torres. Priester generated seven swings and misses on 84 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 24 percent. Through two starts with the Brewers he holds a terrific 0.90 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and an 8/5 K/BB ratio over 10 frames.
