Bregman wound up missing only one game while away from the club on paternity leave. The 31-year-old third baseman is hitting .309 with four homers, 16 RBI and one steal through 20 games in his Red Sox debut.

Painter averaged a crisp 96.6 mph on his four-seam fastball, and threw 35 of 49 pitches for strikes in a near-flawless second rehab outing in the lower minors, allowing three baserunners over three frames. The 22-year-old is widely regarded as the top pitching prospect in baseball and remains on track to arrive in Philadelphia sometime around midseason.

The final pitching line doesn’t seem that impressive, but it’s worth noting that Burns showed some serious moxie in his latest outing, reeling off three scoreless frames after coughing up three runs on a pair of first-inning homers. The hard-throwing 22-year-old is cementing his status as one of the top pitching prospects in baseball with a sublime 20/5 K/BB ratio across 11 2/3 innings (three starts) to open his professional debut.

Neto made his first appearance of 2025 after missing the first few weeks of the season while recovering from his shoulder issue, and it went well. He doubled in a run in the third, and he came around to score the second — and final — run of the game in the same frame. Neto was a very solid fantasy option in 2024, and there’s no reason to think the former first-round selection won’t be a quality option now that he’s healthy. Assuming he can stay on the field, of course.

Jansen is no stranger to save situations against the Giants, and the former Dodger stopper came out on top again. He’s looked solid — if not quite as dominant as he was a few years ago — in his first season with the Angels, and he’s up to five saves while not allowing a run in his outings. If/when Los Angeles falls out of this, Jansen is going to be a very interesting trade candidate.

Anderson comes out on top of a duel with Logan Webb, and while he wasn’t as dominant as Webb and his 12 punchouts, he was just as effective, if not more so. He fanned six in the contest, and of the three hits allowed, none of them went for extra bases. Impressive, and Anderson now has a strong 2.08 ERA over his work in the first three weeks. Regression is coming, but he’s a good streaming option for a scheduled bout against Pittsburgh next week.

It feels like Yamamoto just keeps getting better. Even during the few moments of stress when the Rangers strung a hit or two together he was calm, cool, collected, and made the pitches he needed to get out of it. While the strength of his repertoire was on display – each of his fastball, splitter, curveball, and slider forced at least three swings-and-misses – his splitter was especially devastating. Working as his primary pitch, it forced seven whiffs and had the Rangers lunging at it all game. Using a primary splitter can be treacherous since it’s not a pitch that’s thrown in the strike zone very often. Yamamoto’s was in the zone less than 30% of the time in this game and it was so lethal that the Rangers could not lay off. He now has a 0.93 ERA through five starts and should be thought of as one of the few best pitchers in baseball at the moment. He’s scheduled to face the Pirates in his next start.

It feels like Yamamoto just keeps getting better. He scattered five hits and didn’t hand out a free pass over seven frames in this one. Scott worked around singles by Corey Seager and Adolis García to finish off the Dodgers’ impressive victory. He threw 13 of his 17 pitches for strikes and had little fear challenging the Rangers’ vaunted lineup. This save tied him with Andrés Muñoz for second-most in the league when many wondered if he’d actually be a closer for most of the offseason.

A very solid MLB debut for Durbin. The 25-year-old singled twice and came around to score on a fielder’s choice from Christian Yelich. Durbin is going to see regular playing time with the Brew Crew, and his speed makes him worthy of a speculative add in formats that allow for a deeper roster field.

Edman wasted no time in this one, taking Jacob deGrom deep on a fastball high and away to start the game. That wound up being the Dodgers’ only run against deGrom who allowed just three hits on the night with Edman accounting for two of them. He’s been smoldering hot to start the season with a .926 OPS and seven home runs already. That gives him 13 homers in his 38 regular season games as a Dodger, which would match his career-high for a single season. He’s playing like a star at the moment, like the Dodgers needed another one of those.

The Rangers’ lineup was blanked by Yoshinobu Yamamoto and the Dodgers’ fantastic bullpen on Friday night, but Harris still managed to get his. He accounted for two of the five hits off Yamamoto and is now riding the four-game hitting stream with two hits in consecutive contests. This may be a short lived hot streak though, as Wyatt Langford is expected to be activated off the injured list as early as Saturday.

There was a moment of panic after deGrom allowed a lead-off home run to Tommy Edman. Struggling a bit to start the season and being especially prone to homers, that was a scary way to start the game. Yet, he instantly pulled the nose back up on this start and faced just two batters over the minimum from that point to the end of his outing and completed seven innings for the first time since April 11th, 2023. It wasn’t necessarily vintage deGrom, though. He forced just eight swings-and-misses and barely got the Dodgers to chase anything out of the strike zone. Also, he didn’t throw a single curveball for the first time all season and only mixed in a handful of changeups to left-handed batters. It’s been fun trying to re-calibrate our understanding of who deGrom is at this point in his career and it’s encouraging that he held the Dodgers’ dangerous lineup in check without missing many bats. He’s set to take on the Athletics in his next start.

Yelich singled in runs in the second and fifth frames, and added a third RBI on a fielder’s choice in the seventh. That gives him 14 RBI on the season and it gives the outfielder back-to-back multi-hit games. Yelich has struggled for most of 2025 with a .194 average, but he’s far too talented to keep that low of average for much longer.

Megill was called into action after the A’s scored a pair of runs in the ninth to create a save situation, and he needed just five pitches to get out of the jam. The 31-year-old was dealing with a knee issue earlier in the week, but looked healthy in his last two outings.

Ginn gave up two runs in the third, and another came across in the fifth. The 25-year-old had some control issues with two walks and 54-of-96 pitches for strikes, but he was able to miss bats and pitched better than his line indicates. Ginn will be back on the bump Thursday against the Rangers, and fantasy managers should look for more consistent (better) options.

Peralta did allow seven hits and one walk, but the right-hander had little trouble escaping the mini-jams with key punchouts. With the scoreless outing, he’s allowed just four runs in his four starts in April, and his ERA has dropped to 1.91 in the process. Peralta gets a chance to keep the good run going with a start against the Giants in San Francisco next week.

Smith has his first-ever multi-homer game, and it seems unlikely it’ll be his last. The 2024 first-round pick has had some downs during his first month of MLB action, but that’s to be expected. Smith has upper-echelon talent, and fantasy managers (obviously) shouldn’t give up on him. Just be prepared for some bitter with the better.

Hader now has five saves on the season, with this one coming against one of his former clubs. The 31-year-old has given up just one run this season — that one blemish coming in the opener — and his ERA is now a super 0.90 on the 2025 campaign. To say Hader looks better to begin this season compared to last is quite the understatement.

Gusto pounded the strike zone; throwing 51-of-68 pitches for strikes in the victory. He caught a little too much of the plate, however, and was fortunate to give up just the pair of runs while striking out only two batters. Still, the results are once again solid for Gusto, and he improves to 2-1 with a 3.18 ERA for his trouble. He’s a risky streamer for Wednesday’s scheduled bout with the Blue Jays.

Harris completed the Braves four-run comeback with his two-run, game-tying single in the eighth inning off reliever Cole Sands and set-up Drake Baldwin to drive him in as the winning run. Few players have struggled as much as Harris out of the gate this season, so coming through like this in the clutch must come with a little bit of extra joy. Yet, he remains Atlanta’s lead-off hitter against right-handed pitchers and has been known to go on torrid hot streaks during his career. Maybe this big hit sets him off on his next one.

It took Iglesias just nine pitches to set the Twins down in order and end an exciting, come-from-behind victory for the Braves. This was his seventh appearance of the season, yet just the fourth in which he hasn’t allowed an earned run. Nevertheless, he remains one of the most trustworthy closers in the league.

It’s borderline surreal to look back at Elder’s success from early in his career when he had a 3.66 ERA over the first 228 innings of his career. Since then, it’s over seven and his struggles were front and center in this start. As a sinker, slider pitcher he doesn’t have a great plan of attack for left-handed batters and routinely floated noncompetitive, subpar changeups to the Twins lefties. The worst of which Trevor Larnach sent into orbit for a 407 foot home run. Yet, the Braves opted for him here over A.J. Smith-Shawver, but that could change soon. Whoever gets that next turn, this spot in the rotation is scheduled to face the Cardinals next time out.

Larnach sent his home run off Bryce Elder into orbit. He attacked a changeup that sat in the heart of the zone like it was on a tee and blasted 407 feet and 111.8 mph. It’s been a struggle for Larnach to start the season, but he’s been afforded some extra time to get himself going since Matt Wallner is out with a hamstring strain.

While Paddack’s final line looks great, it may say more about the state of the Braves’ lineup than any breakthrough for Paddack himself. It took him until the third inning before he forced a swing-and-miss and only wound up with six on the night in total despite striking six batters out. His command was good though and he reared back for a handful of 96 mph fastballs. Relative to how Paddack has looked lately, this was an amazing start. He will seek revenge on the White Sox – who annihilated him a few weeks ago – in his next turn.

Goldschmidt led off the second inning with a single off of Drew Rasmussen and ultimately came around to score on a two-out RBI single off the bat of Trent Grisham. That would be the only run that either team would score in the ballgame. The 37-year-old first baseman also singled in the third and again in the ninth inning — giving him a league-leading 22 singles on the season. The lack of power is concerning, but it’s hard to complain too much when he’s hitting .373/.415/.480 on the season with one long ball and six RBI.

Grisham strolled to the dish with two men on and two outs in the second inning and he served a Drew Rasmussen offering into center field that plated Paul Goldschmidt to give the Yankees an early 1-0 lead. That would be his only hit on the day and one of just five total hits by the Yankees in the ballgame. He has performed when his number has been called this season, slashing .310/.383/.619 with four homers and 11 RBI in his first 47 plate appearances.

With Devin Williams unavailable, Weaver stepped back into the ninth inning role and didn’t miss a beat, getting Brandon Lowe and Christopher Morel each on swinging third strikes before retiring Kameron Misner on a pop out to second base to end it. Weaver has been a major weapon out of the Yankees’ bullpen this season, firing 10 innings of shutout baseball with a 0.70 WHIP and an 11/5 K/BB ratio.
